In a world that loves a pile-on, RJ Mahvash is choosing a different lane. In her latest exclusive interview, the actor and former radio jockey spoke candidly about standing by comedian Samay Raina through the India’s Got Latent Season 1 controversy — while also acknowledging he got things wrong. It’s a nuanced take that feels genuinely human in an era of black-and-white takes.

Mahvash didn’t sugarcoat things. She made it clear that Samay was wrong — but she also made it clear that she isn’t walking away. Her reasoning is rooted in real friendship, not PR-speak.

“However wrong they will be, I will still support them. I agree that they were wrong, but humans do make mistakes. So let’s not roast them further. Since I know them as humans and they are great guys. They never cross their line and disrespect others.”

That’s a rare thing to say publicly — and she said it without flinching.

The Trailer Launch Moment That Explains Everything

What makes Mahvash’s loyalty feel earned rather than performative is the backstory she shared. When she was producing Section 108 (starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Regina Cassandra), she reached out to Samay Raina, Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps), Ashish Chanchlani and the wider creator circle for the trailer launch — people she barely knew personally at the time.

They all showed up.

“For me, that is real friendship.”

Simple. No further explanation needed.

Is RJ Mahvash Joining India’s Got Latent Season 2?

Short answer: almost certainly yes. Samay himself extended the invite while they were on a shoot together, and Mahvash didn’t hesitate in saying she’d be there. It’s a confirmed interest, even if an official announcement is still pending.

Why This Matters Beyond the Controversy

The India’s Got Latent controversy sparked genuine debate about the limits of dark comedy and creator accountability in India’s booming digital entertainment space. Mahvash’s position — criticise the act, not the person — adds a more grounded voice to a conversation that mostly played out in extremes online.
