In the age of social media, an unfollow can speak volumes. Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and influencer RJ Mahvash (Mahvash Amu) have reportedly unfollowed each other on Instagram, reigniting speculation about their rumored relationship status. This digital distancing comes months after persistent dating rumors and the cricketer’s highly publicized divorce from choreographer Dhanashree Verma.

Paparazzi handle Varinder Chawla first broke the news on January 21, 2026, revealing that both Chahal and Mahvash were no longer following each other on Instagram. Eagle-eyed fans quickly confirmed the reports, noticing their absence from each other’s follower lists—a significant development given the intense scrutiny their friendship has faced.

A Friendship Under Fire

The speculation surrounding Chahal and Mahvash intensified following his divorce from Dhanashree Verma. Despite their repeated denials, the rumor mill refused to slow down. According to reports, the constant linking took a severe toll on both individuals, particularly Mahvash who faced harsh online criticism.

In August 2025, Chahal spoke candidly on Raj Shamani’s podcast about how the online chatter affected their friendship. “For the first time, when I was seen with someone, people started linking us right away,” he shared. “Even though she clarified it, it was very hard for her. She was called a homewrecker… people said really nasty things. I felt terrible.”

The Price of Public Scrutiny

The cricketer revealed that the relentless speculation had real-world consequences. He and Mahvash couldn’t step out together, even with mutual friends, without triggering fresh rounds of rumors. Despite these challenges, Chahal firmly denied dating RJ Mahvash during the podcast, emphasizing they were simply friends.

Interestingly, while both have now unfollowed each other, Mahvash’s Instagram photos featuring the cricketer remain untouched, complete with captions dedicated to him. This selective digital cleanup raises questions about whether this represents a complete severing of ties or simply an attempt to reduce public scrutiny.

What This Means

The unfollow could signal several possibilities: a genuine friendship ending under pressure, a strategic move to reduce online harassment, or simply respecting each other’s need for privacy following intense media attention. Neither party has commented on the development, leaving fans to speculate about the true nature of their relationship and its current status.

As this story continues unfolding, one thing remains clear—in the social media age, every digital interaction becomes fodder for public consumption, often with heavy personal costs for those involved.
