Riteish Deshmukh’s Powerful Message To Lock Upp 2 Contestants: “The Shame Lies On The Perpetrator”

As Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa heads into its finale week, co-host Riteish Deshmukh is being praised for the way he responded to some of the season’s most emotional moments — contestants opening up about childhood trauma on national television.

What Happened On Lock Upp 2 ?

During a high-stakes challenge, several contestants chose to reveal deeply personal experiences of childhood abuse, moving both housemates and viewers. Shreya Kalra, Ram Kapoor, Harshad Chopda, and Shivangi Joshi opened up about being molested during their childhood, with fellow contestants offering comfort and support.

Riteish’s Response

Deshmukh didn’t hold back his admiration for the contestants’ courage. He told Hindustan Times that speaking about such trauma out loud, in public, is far harder than confiding in a friend or family member, and that doing so gives immense strength to others to speak up too.

He was equally direct about where responsibility lies. Deshmukh stated that shame belongs to the perpetrator, not the victim, and said the contestants have given viewers courage to name and publicly hold accountable the people who wronged them</cite>.

No Favorites As The Finale Nears

With the season wrapping up, Deshmukh made clear he’s staying neutral. He explained that he and Farah Khan don’t have the luxury of picking favorites, though he praised Shreya’s strong gameplay, Shivangi and Harshad’s ongoing stories, and Ram’s growth after early reluctance. He also commended Varun, Yogesh, Akanksha Choudhary, and Shilpa Shinde for their strong performances throughout the season.

Conversations like these highlight the importance of survivor-centered dialogue in media, a principle central to modern approaches to child abuse awareness and prevention.
