Resident Evil Requiem: 72.88GB Install Size, Pre-Load Feb 25

Resident Evil Requiem pre-loads begin February 25, 2026, ahead of the February 27 midnight release, according to PlayStation Game Size data. The PS5 install size clocks in at 72.88GB, making it potentially the largest Resident Evil game in franchise history—surpassing Resident Evil 4 Remake’s 67GB record.

While Capcom hasn’t officially confirmed worldwide release timings, early backend data from the PlayStation Store reveals critical information for players managing storage space before launch day.

Breaking the Franchise Size Record

At 72.88GB on PS5, Resident Evil Requiem would become the biggest Resident Evil title by install size. For comparison, Resident Evil 4 Remake currently holds the record at 67GB, followed by Resident Evil 2 Remake at 48GB.

The increased size likely reflects expanded scope, improved visual fidelity using Capcom’s RE Engine, and potentially longer campaign length compared to previous remakes. The Steam PC version size remains unknown but typically runs larger than console versions.

Pre-Load and Release Details

Standard Edition owners can pre-load starting February 25, with a release time of midnight on February 27. Capcom hasn’t provided official worldwide timing confirmation, but these dates should apply globally with regional variations.

The two-day pre-load window gives players with slower internet connections ample time to download before launch. At 72.88GB, download times will vary significantly—on a 100Mbps connection, expect roughly 1.5-2 hours, while 25Mbps connections could take 6-8 hours.

Commercial Performance Signals

Following its State of Play appearance, Resident Evil Requiem has demonstrated remarkable commercial momentum. The game reportedly ranks as the third most-wishlisted title on Steam at 2.5 million wishlist additions, trailing only Subnautica 2 and Forza Horizon 6.

Pre-orders have exceeded Capcom’s expectations significantly, contributing to a surge in Capcom’s stock prices. This strong early performance suggests Requiem could become one of Capcom’s biggest launches, potentially rivaling or exceeding Resident Evil 4 Remake’s sales trajectory.

The game features Leon Kennedy and newcomer Grace returning to Raccoon Police Department headquarters, with the latest trailer teasing Sherry Birkin’s appearance. Different inventory management systems for Leon and Grace add gameplay variety.

Platform Availability

Resident Evil Requiem launches February 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC (Steam), and Nintendo Switch 2. The Switch 2 version will be particularly interesting given the console’s portable nature and likely significantly smaller file size through compression.

Storage Planning Recommendations

With 72.88GB required, PS5 players should audit their storage before pre-load begins. The console’s base 667GB usable storage fills quickly with modern games averaging 50-100GB. Consider deleting completed games or moving saves to external storage.

The expanded install size suggests Requiem offers substantial content justifying the storage commitment. Capcom’s RE Engine delivers exceptional visual quality efficiently, meaning this size reflects content volume rather than optimization issues.
