The India Game Developer Conference (IGDC), organized by the Game Developer Association of India (GDAI), is scheduled to hold its 18th edition from October 28 to 31, 2026, at the Chennai Trade Centre. The four-day event, powered by ELCOT in partnership with Nazara Technologies, KRAFTON India, and Tencent, aims to support independent game development and convene stakeholders from across the gaming sector.
IGDC serves as a significant platform for the Indian and global gaming economy, underscoring India’s growing stature in the sector. Over its 17 previous editions, the conference has connected creators, studios, investors, and publishers. The 2026 conference is projected to attract over 10,000 attendees and more than 90 speakers, featuring an exhibition of international and independent innovators.

India Game Developer Conference 2026: Conference Highlights
The initial two days of the 2026 edition will feature presentations from global figures in video gaming, covering areas such as technology, design, investment, publishing, and education.
Initiatives designed to support indie game developers and foster industry connections include a spotlight on 60 independent developers and studios, and recognition for women contributing to the future of games. The Investor–Publisher (IP) Connect program will include 32 participating organizations, with more expected to join. This includes international publishers such as Devolver Digital, Headup, Voodoo, Miniclip, and KRAFTON, alongside Indian gaming companies Nazara Technologies and Felicity Games. Investors like Makers Fund, Lumikai, Elevation, and Prime Venture Partners will also participate, facilitating business matchmaking between studios, publishers, and investors. The final two days, designated as IGDC Playground, will open the event to players and creators, offering opportunities to experience new games from Indian studios and interact with their development teams.
Sridhar Muppidi, Chairperson of GDAI, commented on the conference’s role: “GDAI has worked to evolve individual talent into a national industry, creating business opportunities for studios, training new generations of developers, and collaborating with the government on supportive policies. IGDC functions as the convergence point for this work, where developers, publishers, investors, and technology partners have met across 18 editions to build the industry. This year, with 60 indie studios showcased and two days open to the public, we are expanding the reach of Indian games to a broader audience.”
The return to Chennai follows the 2025 edition, during which the Tamil Nadu government signed memoranda of understanding with Nazara Technologies, Lakshya Digital, and Reliance Games, signaling commitments to game development within the state.
Thiru B Vishnu Chandran, IAS, Managing Director, Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Ltd (ELCOT), stated, “We are pleased to welcome IGDC back to Chennai for the second consecutive year. The animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics sector is integral to Tamil Nadu’s vision for the creative economy. We are dedicated to nurturing local talent, encouraging innovation, and supporting business growth. We invite Indian and global companies to invest, collaborate, and build from Tamil Nadu, and IGDC is an ideal platform to demonstrate the State’s potential as a gaming hub.”
