Nike (https://www.nike.com/in/) and the Mumbai Indians cricket franchise have announced a multi-year agreement designating Nike as the official kit partner for both the men’s and women’s teams, effective from the 2027 season. The collaboration will see Nike supply apparel for match play, training, and general sportswear for players, coaches, and technical staff.
The partnership underscores Nike’s continued focus on the Indian cricket market, reflecting what the company described as a long-term commitment to athletes and the sport’s growth in the country. Tarundeep Singh, General Manager for Nike India, stated, “Cricket is integral to India, and few teams encapsulate its energy like Mumbai Indians. The club embodies the ambition and conviction that make sport impactful. This drew Nike to the partnership, which represents our effort to serve athletes, celebrate the game, and help inspire the next generation.”
Devang Bhimjyani, Head of Reliance Sports, which operates the Mumbai Indians, commented on the team’s ethos, stating, “Mumbai Indians have always been about more than cricket. We are one family – our players, our Paltan – built on nurturing talent, backing it fearlessly, and playing for a city that never stops. Nike shares our belief in athletes and in the power of sport to inspire.”

Nike : Partnership Scope and Availability
Under the agreement, athletes and staff are scheduled to begin wearing Nike team gear this month. New kits for both the men’s and women’s teams will be unveiled ahead of their respective 2027 seasons. Fan apparel, including team kits and additional merchandise inspired by Mumbai’s identity and culture, is expected to become available to the public in the coming weeks.
Tilak Varma, a Nike-sponsored athlete and member of the Mumbai Indians men’s team, acknowledged the personal significance of the alliance. “Mumbai Indians backed me and gave me the opportunity to express myself on the big stage. Nike has been part of my journey too, so bringing these two families together feels personal,” Varma stated. “Wearing the MI colors with the Nike Swoosh will remind me of how far I’ve come — and how much more I want to achieve.”
The collaboration aims to connect sport and culture through product offerings and storytelling, extending the team’s presence from stadiums to broader community engagement.
