Realme GT Neo 2 Vs. iQOO 8: Which one should you go for?

The realme GT Neo 2 was recently launched in China and it has so far been a success with over 100,000 units sold in just one day.

The handset is now set to make its debut in the global market, which means it will also arrive in India. However, realme will not be the only one bringing a new device to the Indian market, iQOO is also set to bring the iQOO 8, a flagship killer to India as well.

If you are considering which device would suit you the best, here is a comparison to make it a bit easier for you to decide.

Design:

The Black Mint color of the Realme GT Neo 2 makes it pretty attractive, original phones are a trend when the manufacturer chooses the right design, the phone often goes viral.

The Black Mint colorway of the Realme GT Neo2 is a testament to that statement as over 40% of the initial orders were for that particular colorway.

The iQOO 8 has an original color variant as well but is it as attractive as the Realme GT Neo2, probably not. The iQOO 8 has a more compact design due to a smaller display and a higher screen-to-body ratio, as well as a smaller battery.

Display:

Realme GT Neo2 and the iQOO 8 are very similar when we talk about the image quality of the displays. On paper, it looks like the Realme GT Neo2 is slightly better because it has the HDR10+ certification and a very high 1300 nit peak brightness.

You will not notice big differences between their displays, both are AMOLED panels with Full HD+ resolutions of 1080 x 2400p, in-display fingerprint scanners, and a high refresh rate of 120Hz.

The Realme GT Neo 2 has a slightly wider display with a 6.62″ diagonal.

Specs and Software:

The iQOO 8 is the device for you if you wish to have the most powerful flagship, it has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 that is stronger than the Snapdragon 870 SoC found on the Realme GT Neo2.

The maxed-out memory configurations are the same, with 12GB RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 native storage. The processor is the biggest difference. Both the devices run Android 11 OS, customized by Origin OS and Realme UI respectively.

Both have very advanced user interfaces with multiple features and deep customization.

Camera:

The iQOO 8 has a better camera with a 50MP primary sensor, a 13MP telephoto sensor, and a 13MP ultrawide camera. The Realme GT Neo2 on the other hand has a 64MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor.

With such specs, there is no way for the GT Neo2 to compete with the iQOO 8. The front cameras are exactly the same, both have a 16MP sensor with an f/2.5 focal aperture.

Battery:

The Realme GT Neo2 has a better battery than the iQOO 8, with a capacity of 5,000mAh, it has a longer battery life in almost every scenario.

The iQOO 8 has a 4,300mAh battery with a fast charger of 120W. The realme GT Neo2 is also right up there with a 65W fast charger.

Pricing:

In China, the Realme GT Neo2 has a starting price of $371 or 27,507 INR whereas the iQOO 8 begins from $580 or 43,004 INR.

The iQOO 8 is priced higher as it features a superior chipset and a better camera setup. If the camera is not a big requirement for you, choose the Realme GT Neo2 as it has a good battery life and is priced lower.

The battery life aspect is important for gamers, even more than the difference between the chipset that powers the devices. However, with 120W fast charging, you get an added value of the iQOO 8.

Even though the battery is smaller, with that kind of charging speed, you can power your device back up within no time!

Pros and cons of the devices summarized:
