Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal can be expelled from the ongoing Champions League and Europa League

The whole football world is in shock after the official announcement of the European Super League was made by the 12 founder clubs. 3 Spanish clubs – Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, 3 Italian clubs – Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan and 6 English clubs – Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have agreed on the formation of the European Super League.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez will be the first chairman of the European Super League. Juventus president Andrea Agnelli, Manchester United co-owner Joel Glazer, Liverpool owner John Henry and Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke will be the vice-presidents of the Super League.

However, UEFA and FIFA along with the domestic leagues have already announced officially that they will take action against the clubs participating in the European Super League. The statement warns of potential legal action against teams creating a new European Super League. They’ve also warned players involved could be banned from representing their country.

The head of the Danish FA, Jesper Moller stated that the three clubs who agreed to join the Super League but are still in the Champions League should be banned on Friday. The two other Europa League clubs who also joined the Super League could face the same expulsion.

‘I think we who love football have had enough now,’ Moller told Danish TV channel DR.

‘Now a line must be drawn in the sand.’

‘The clubs are going out, and I expect that to happen on Friday, and then you have to see how to finish the Champions League.’

‘The teams must be excluded as soon as possible.’

Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin reported by Reuters as saying at an emergency meeting yesterday ‘As soon as possible they (the clubs) and the players have to be banned from all our competitions.’

‘Uefa is consulting lawyers on whether it can suspend the breakaway clubs from European competition and ban players from international tournaments,’ The Times reports.

‘Gianni Infantino, the Fifa president, is due to reinforce that message, but could such moves and Uefa statutes be contested? Will it be through national courts or the European Commission? How does this work across borders?’

‘The breakaway clubs insist that they have filed legal papers designed to protect their interests and to ward off any possible injunctions or expulsions — and the more lawyers you speak to, the more it becomes clear that we are venturing into unpredictable new ground.’

However, the legality of whether or not UEFA can expel the clubs from the ongoing Champions League and Europa League is unknown as it is a complex and unprecedented situation.
