Raaka Motion Capture World Record: How Allu Arjun and Atlee’s Epic Set a Guinness Record

Atlee turned 40 this week, and he got quite the birthday gift — a Guinness World Record for his upcoming epic Raaka. The Allu Arjun starrer has officially entered the record books for using the most performers ever captured simultaneously in real-time motion capture, a technical feat that puts Indian cinema’s VFX ambitions on the global map.

Raaka World Record: Overview

What Exactly Did Raaka Achieve?

The makers announced on social media that Raaka has officially set a Guinness World Record for the most people captured simultaneously using motion capture technology in real time, with 37 performers tracked at once. Allu Arjun and Atlee were personally presented with the certificate, marking a genuine milestone for Indian filmmaking on the technical front. Motion capture, a technique widely used in Hollywood tentpoles to translate real human performance into digital characters, has rarely been attempted at this scale outside major international productions — making this achievement particularly significant for the Indian film industry.

Behind-the-scenes visuals shared by the team reveal a massive, technically complex shoot, with artists who’ve previously worked on the Fast and Furious franchise and Spider-Man films reportedly part of the crew. That international expertise, combined with a large-scale simultaneous capture setup, is what allowed the production to pull off the record in the first place.

What We Know About Raaka So Far?

Raaka is being positioned as a parallel-universe epic, with Allu Arjun’s first-look poster showing him in a hybrid, beast-like form that’s drawn comparisons to werewolf mythology. Deepika Padukone has been confirmed as the female lead, and the film is expected to lean heavily on CGI and VFX to bring its ambitious world to life.

Early reports suggest the project is being planned as a two-part saga, unfolding across two different timelines — one rooted in an ancient tribal era, the other set in a contemporary world. There’s also been persistent buzz about Hollywood star Will Smith joining the cast, though the makers haven’t officially confirmed his involvement yet.

What’s Next for Allu Arjun?

Beyond Raaka, Allu Arjun has a packed slate ahead. He’s set to collaborate with director Lokesh Kanagaraj on the tentatively titled AA23, which will mark his first project with composer Anirudh Ravichander. There’s also talk of an upcoming collaboration with actor-director Basil Joseph, though an official announcement is still pending.
