Qualcomm and Sony enters into a multi-year deal

Qualcomm Technologies announced an expanded partnership with Sony Corporation to power the next generation of smartphones. The two businesses’ collaboration will centre on offering “unparalleled user experiences” across premium, high-tier, and mid-tier handsets.

Qualcomm, which is a renowned developer of mobile platforms, hopes that this collaboration with Sony will push the boundaries of mobile technology.

O.H. Kwon, senior vice president of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies and president of Qualcomm Asia-Pacific (APAC), expressed enthusiasm about the ongoing partnership with Sony, stating, “We’re thrilled to continue working with our longstanding partner Sony to deliver the next generation of premium mobile technologies to consumers. This collaboration is an exciting opportunity for us to deliver innovative user experiences to help meet the demands of consumers globally.”

Sony’s flagship Xperia smartphones have been highly welcomed in the market. Under its flagship line, Sony recently unveiled the Xperia 1 V, which is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform.

Sony Corporation’s Head of the Mobile Communications Business Unit, Tsutomu Hamaguchi, expressed the company’s dedication to collaboration and their excitement about working with Qualcomm Technologies. He emphasized their commitment to developing advanced technology that not only meets but surpasses the expectations of their customers.

The inclusion of Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon mobile platforms in Sony’s smartphones will pave the door for new features and capabilities. Users may look forward to increased performance, longer battery life, faster networking, and optimised graphics processing. These developments will not only improve the overall user experience, but will also open up new opportunities in fields such as gaming, multimedia, photography, and artificial intelligence.

According to sources, Qualcomm intends to enter the gaming console business. The corporation is also said to be in talks with Nintendo, the world’s largest video game company, about portable gaming devices. While it is unknown how the two would collaborate, Qualcomm may ask Nintendo to assist with the design and functionality of the gaming devices.
