The Premier League are close to agreeing a £488 million deal with EA Sports over six years to retain their place as the sole licence holder and be one of their lead partners going forward.
Should it be finalised, the deal would be one of the biggest such deals in the history of the Premier League. The latest version of their annual video game offering, FIFA 23, is on course to become the highest grossing title in their long history with a four percent increase than the previous best seller.
Premier League and EA Sports close to agreeing new sponsorship deal
The teams in the top division will receive a massive financial boost, with one club in line to receive up to £80 million. And in addition, EA will also retain their exclusive rights to feature them in video games.
The association between the Premier League and EA Sports goes back to 2016. The new deal is expected to be worth double the current deal, which will see them continue to be one of the top sponsors of the league.
After 30 long years, however, FIFA is no longer expected to be the title sponsor of the football game franchise. There are plans for a new title to come about, with the new series being called EA Sports FC. However, the details like the rights to the players, stadiums and clubs is part of a separate deal which will not be affected.
