Prahaar Trailer Out: Rajkummar Rao shines as fierce Ujjwal Nikam, Jaideep Ahlawat brings the tension

Some trailer launches are just events. This one had weight. Dinesh Vijan and Maddock Films unveiled the trailer of Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, one of the sites hit during the 26/11 attacks. The film is set for a theatrical release on October 16, 2026.

Rajkummar Rao as Ujjwal Nikam

The trailer introduces Rajkummar Rao as Ujjwal Nikam, the public prosecutor whose life became tied to a defining chapter in India’s legal history. According to Pinkvilla’s reading of the trailer, Rao brings both intensity and sensitivity to the role, and his look, moustache and body language seem strikingly close to the real person. For an actor known for disappearing into characters, that’s a promising sign.

Prahaar: The Cast and the Man Behind the Camera

Wamiqa Gabbi and Jaideep Ahlawat join Rao in the film. The story is directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware, the filmmaker known for Pataal Lok and Three of Us, so expect a distinctive visual style rather than a standard courtroom drama. Dinesh Vijan produces under the Maddock Films banner.

Jaideep Ahlawat and the Face-Off

Ahlawat appears to play another strong character, and the trailer suggests he may be portraying a Pakistani character, though that’s an impression from the trailer rather than a confirmation. Either way, the face-off between him and Rao looks like one of the film’s big draws, and it’s what the trailer leans on to build tension.

A Fight Without Guns

The makers sum up the film with a line that translates roughly as: no guns, no bullets, only evidence and truth. That’s the promise of Prahaar. It’s less about action and more about a courageous, unrelenting pursuit of justice inside a courtroom. The trailer promises an intense legal drama surrounding the Mumbai 26/11 attack.
