Practical Magic 2 Trailer Is Here — Sandra Bullock & Nicole Kidman Prove Some Spells Never Break

Nearly 28 years. That’s how long fans of the original Practical Magic have waited for the Owens sisters to return. And now, finally, they’re back — older, wiser, and apparently dealing with a whole new family curse. If the trailer is anything to go by, the wait was absolutely worth every single year.

The nostalgia hit is real. But this isn’t just a nostalgia play — this looks like a genuinely new, emotionally layered story.

What the Trailer Reveals

The sequel reunites fans with Sally and Gillian Owens — Sandra Bullock’s Sally still gravitating toward a quiet domestic life centred on family and baking, while Nicole Kidman’s Gillian remains the free-spirited sister chasing her next adventure. Beloved aunts Franny and Jet, played by Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest, are also back with their trademark warmth and wisdom.

This time around, the central drama focuses on the next generation — Sally’s daughters Kylie (Joey King) and her sister (Maisie Williams) begin questioning the dark family legend that has haunted the Owens women for generations. Their quest eventually draws Sally and Gillian into a journey that leads them all the way to London, where a mysterious new character played by Lee Pace enters the story.

The trailer is set to Harry Nilsson’s “Coconut” and a haunting rendition of “Season of the Witch” by Lana Del Rey — a musical choice that perfectly captures the film’s blend of whimsy, darkness and emotional weight.

Why This Sequel Feels Special

The original Practical Magic (1998) was initially a box office underperformer that found its true audience over years of home video and television reruns, eventually becoming a beloved Halloween staple with a fierce cult following. The fact that it’s getting a sequel — directed by Susanne Bier, no less — with almost the entire original cast intact says everything about how much that film came to mean to audiences worldwide.

A new generation of witches, a London setting, and the same soul-deep bond between two sisters. This one has all the ingredients for magic.
