Pixel 11 Series Launching August 12: Here’s Everything Leaked So Far

Google has actually confirmed something for once: the Pixel 11 event is locked in for August 12, and it’s an evening slot in New York — Google’s biggest production yet, if the rumor mill is right. With the date official, here’s what leaks say is coming under the hood.

Pixel 11: What’s Reportedly Changing

The headline change is the move to a 2nm chip — Tensor phones have struggled with heat and battery drain for years, and a smaller node is exactly the kind of fix that could finally put that complaint to rest. Ditching the Samsung modem for MediaTek’s M90 is arguably just as big a deal, since flaky signal has been a recurring gripe with Pixels going back several generations.

The Trade-Off Worth Watching

It’s not all upside, though. Some leaks suggest the base Pixel 11 could ship with 8GB RAM instead of a flat 12GB across the line — a strange call given Google’s own on-device Gemini AI features reportedly need at least 12GB to run smoothly. If that holds true, it’s the one spec worth double-checking before buying the entry model on day one.

The bigger, more reliable upgrade is the storage bump: killing the 128GB base tier means every Pixel 11 model should start at 256GB — a genuinely welcome change, even if it likely comes with a higher starting price.

Why the Modem Switch Matters More Than It Sounds

Google building its own Tensor chip was always more about AI processing than raw performance, and that hasn’t changed. But pairing it with a proven MediaTek modem — rather than an in-house or Samsung-sourced one — signals Google finally prioritizing basic reliability alongside its AI ambitions. The Takeaway

Every detail above is still leak-based, not confirmed by Google — treat it as a well-informed preview, not the final spec sheet. The one thing that is official: August 12, 6 PM ET. Everything else gets settled on stage.
