Malayalam cinema is buzzing, and honestly, it’s hard not to get excited. Patriot, starring the two biggest icons of Kerala’s film industry — Mammootty and Mohanlal — is finally hitting theatres on May 1, 2026. Directed by the brilliant Mahesh Narayanan, this spy action drama has been one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Let’s break down everything you need to know.
Patriot Plot: What Is the Film Actually About?
Here’s where it gets really interesting. Mammootty plays Daniel, a popular YouTuber from Kerala on a mission to expose a corrupt regional official named JP Sundaram. But just as the truth is about to come out, Daniel is framed, hunted, and forced to clear his name — turning the story into a gripping cat-and-mouse thriller.
Think whistleblower journalism meets spy action. In an era where citizen journalism is reshaping how corruption gets exposed, the premise feels deeply relevant and refreshingly modern.
