Park Se Young Is Back — and Her New Drama “Family Resister” Already Looks Like an Emotional Masterpiece

After four years away from our screens, Park Se Young is making a powerful comeback — and the first look at her character has us completely hooked already.

Family Resister: Overview

What Is “Family Resister” About?

“Family Resister” is an upcoming MBC daily drama that dives deep into themes of identity, prejudice, and resilience. The story follows a woman branded from birth as someone who destroyed a family — and her fierce fight to reclaim her life against a society that refuses to give her a fair chance.

Park Se Young leads the drama as Na Ji Ni, an aspiring artist who majored in traditional Korean painting and dreams of creating K-animation with global reach. On the surface, she appears to live a privileged life — but beneath it, she carries deep emotional scars that quietly shape every decision she makes. It’s the kind of layered, complex character that Park Se Young is tailor-made to portray.

A Return Four Years in the Making

This is Park Se Young’s first TV project since Mental Coach Jegal in 2022 — and notably, her first acting role since marrying fellow actor Kwak Jung Wook and welcoming their first daughter in May 2025. It’s a genuinely meaningful comeback, and the production team clearly feels it too.

The newly released first stills are already stunning — showing Na Ji Ni lost in thought while holding a bouquet of flowers, and quietly studying artwork at an exhibition. There’s a delicate beauty to the images that hints at both creative passion and buried pain.

The production team shared that Park Se Young is “delicately portraying Na Ji Ni’s warmth and emotional depth,” adding that her acting has grown even more mature during her time away from screens.

That says a lot.
