Some pairings just make sense the moment you hear them. Park Bo Young and Son Suk Ku sharing a screen for the first time? That’s the kind of casting news that stops K-content fans mid-scroll.

Reports emerged on July 8 that both actors have received offers to lead a new fantasy rom-com titled “If I’m With You” (working title), directed by Kang Hyung Chul — the filmmaker behind Sunny, Tazza: The Hidden Card, and Swing Kids. Their respective agencies have confirmed the offers exist, though both are still “reviewing” — so nothing’s locked in just yet, but the buzz is already real.

Set aboard a cruise ship, the story follows a mix of Korean and foreign characters navigating fantastical, funny episodes at sea. It’s a big swing of a premise, and pairing it with two of Korea’s most trusted actors only raises expectations further.

Why This Reunion Matters

For Park Bo Young, this isn’t just another project — it’s a full-circle moment. Her very first breakout with Kang Hyung Chul was Scandal Makers back in 2008, a film that pulled in over 8 million admissions and launched her career. Eighteen years later, working with him again feels less like a casting choice and more like a homecoming.

Son Suk Ku, meanwhile, brings his signature intensity from projects like My Liberation Notes and The Roundup — a tone that would contrast beautifully against a light, fantastical rom-com. That contrast is exactly what’s fueling fan excitement online.
