Through the Xbox app, the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will be available on PC.

Google patents a fitness tracker design that might come without a display

According to a few reports, American multinational technology company, Google, has filed for a patent for a design for a fitness tracker. This design patent was filed with the United States Patents and Trademarks Office (USPTO). The sketched present in the documentation submitted shows it as a “wristband for tracking fitness”.

In November of 2019, Google made an announcement that they are interested in acquiring Fitbit. The deal was worth around to be $2.1 billion. Even after one long year, this acquisition is yet to be completed. Yet, Google has gone ahead and filed a patent for a similar product.

The sketches reveal that there is no screen attached to this fitness tracker. Have you seen a similar fitness tracker without a screen before? Yes! Amazon Halo. The users of this supposed Google’s new fitness tracker will have to rely on their connected smartphone to monitor all of their health activities and get the readings.

One cannot just look at the fitness tracker and collect the insights. Another point to note is that it looks like a tracker is attached to the wearable’s strap itself. If this happens to be true, customers will have no option but to buy a new piece altogether if they want a different colour. We speculate that google might introduce some kind of ‘Ok Google’ feature which can help us connect with the smartphone easily. By the looks, this fitness tracker might consist of a seamless finish up front and ridges at the back of the strap. Since there are pogo pins near a sensor that cannot be detached from the strap, we think it might use a magnetic charger.

Can this be Google’s first-ever fitness band? Needless to mention like always, filing a design patent does not mean that the product can consumer-ready very soon. There is a high probability that these products does not even hit the market ever.

Qualcomm Technologies International, which is dominating the mobile chipsets market, today unveiled the QCC305x wireless chip series which will assist its customers to differentiate across a range of tiers in today’s very fast-moving truly wireless earbud (TWS) division. This new SoC will be the newest entrant to the mid-tier Qualcomm QCC30xx series of SoCs.

The TWS industry is diversifying at a rapid rate, given more options to the customers to choose from. This enrichment is happening not only in the highest tiers but also in the bottom and mid-tier segments.

A new chip is launched after some time. It was in March when Qualcomm released QCC514X and QCC304X. Both of these chips supported Qualcomm’s TrueWireless Mirroring technology. They upgraded noise cancellations and offered reliable connections. One of the most special points about the QCC305x wireless chip is that it provides robust support for many of the firm’s premium audio technologies. This is done by creating flexible and cost-sensitive options executing stylish wireless audio use cases.

The Bluetooth Low-Energy (LE) Audio standard which is deemed to be the future will be supported in Qualcomm’s new SoC. The technology segment is evolving at a neck-breaking pace. Thus, customers also are keen to better experience overall. Today’s launch is just another step from Qualcomm in that direction. They will make sure that smooth operations take place from Qualcomm Snapdragon-powered smartphones to Qualcomm-Technologies powered earbuds.

“Not only do our QCC305x SoCs bring many of our latest-and-greatest audio features to our mid-range truly wireless earbud portfolio, they are also designed to be developer-ready for the upcoming Bluetooth LE Audio standard. We believe this combination gives our customers great flexibility to innovate at a range of price points and helps them meet the needs of today’s audio consumers, many of whom now rely on their truly wireless earbuds for all sorts of entertainment and productivity activities.” – James Chapman, vice president, and general manager, Voice, Music, and Wearables, Qualcomm Technologies International.

Concussion substitutions to be trialled in January 2021

0

Football’s lawmaking body IFAB announced one of the revolutionary ideas to protect the players. Yesterday, IFAB announced that the concussion substitutions will be trialled from January.

After “less than a year of detailed consultation with relevant stakeholders, medical concussion experts, team doctors, player representatives, coaches, competition organizers, refereeing and Laws of the Game experts” IFAB finally decided to introduce to protect the players. IFAB hopes that it will decrease the risk of players sustaining multiple head injuries in a single match but also ensure teams are not facing any disadvantage when a player be told to leave the pitch.

The head injury concerns have increased after there were multiple issues that happened in the last few weeks in Europe’s Elite leagues. Recently in the Premier League, Arsenal defender David Luiz continued to play with a fractured skull until half-time after a clash of heads with Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Jose Maria Gimenez.

FA has already confirmed to introduce the rule from January in FA Cup, the Women’s Super League, Women’s FA Cup, and Women’s Championship.

The Premier League said, “With player welfare the Premier League’s priority, clubs agreed in principle to introduce additional permanent concussion substitutions following approval of the trial by the International Football Association Board yesterday.”

“The Premier League will look to implement protocols which will allow a maximum of two concussion substitutes to be used per team, with the opposition side able to use the equivalent number.”

“The additional concussion substitutions may be made regardless of the number of substitutions a team has made already.”

The rule will be implemented now until December 31, 2021, with the extension applying to international competitions until July 31, 2022.

India vs Australia: 1st Test, Day 1 review

0

India was reduced to 233/6 at stumps of Day 1 of the day-night Test by Australia in Adelaide today.

India won the toss and opted to bat first against Australia in the first Test.

Prithvi Shaw was sent back on a duck by Mitchell Starc in the first over itself. Prithvi tried to block a good length ball but left a little gap between bat and ball which took the inside edge and hit the stumps behind sending him back reeling.

Skipper Virat Kohli scored the highest with 74 runs before getting run out. Skipper Kohli first scored a 68-run partnership with the resolute and set in stone batsman, Cheteshwar Pujara. Then the skipper scored an 88-run partnership with vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane. But a confusion by Ajinkya Rahane led to the run-out of Virat Kohli, which was the changing point in the match.

From a decent score 188 runs for 3, India took the score to 206 for 6 with Rahane and, Hanuma Vihari who scored only 16 runs. Both of the middle order batsmen found the pace and swing generated by the pink ball under lights too difficult to handle.

Later on, Wriddhiman Saha scored 9 runs and Ravichandran Ashwin for 15 runs at the crease.

Even the former India Captain and legend, Sunil Gavaskar was disappointed by Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal over their way of dismissal after both the openers failed to give the visitors a good start in the first Test at Adelaide.

“Even today, have a look at where his bat ends. There is such a big gap between bat and pad. Just the second delivery of the game and you want to make sure that you are playing with soft hands. You are playing as late as possible. The whole idea in Test match cricket is that you don’t go there. Then you are leaving that much of a gap between bat and pad, allowing for any late movement, either to get an inside edge or snick between bat and pad,” told Sunil Gavaskar.

“The trick is to try and play as close to the pads as possible, which means your bat speed has to be minimal at the start of the innings. As you grow in confidence, yes then you go and play your shots. But at the start when you are not even off the mark, you want to try and reduce your bat speed. Don’t leave any gap between bat and pad,” Gavaskar added.

“Well again, you can have a look at this. He’s (Mayank) played very hard at the ball, later on. This particular shot shows that the bat is close to the pad. It wasn’t. The ball snicked through there was such a big gap..a truck could have gone. A truck could have gone between that bat and pad. So that’s what the Indians are making a big mistake,” Gavaskar further said on Mayank’s dismissal.

On the Day 1 of first test match of Gavaskar-Border trophy, India was sent reeling by Australia at the end of the day and has definitely learnt that the Men In Blue needs more set-in-stone batsmen and also an exceptionally well bowling lineup against Australia with a more strong strategy.

Edinson Cavani charged for breaching FA rules in social media

0

Manchester United’s veteran striker Edinson Cavani is charged for breaching FA rules following his activity on social media. He was alleged to use racist language.

On November 29, he used the word “negrito” on Instagram following his side’s 3-2 win over Southampton. Cavani scored a brace and assisted one as Manchester United came back from 2-0 down at half-time to 2-3 up in the end. Cavani apologized after that as it was just an affectionate greeting to a friend.

The FA stated, “Edinson Cavani has been charged with misconduct for a breach of FA Rule E3 in relation to a social media post on Thursday 29 November 2020.”

“It is alleged that, contrary to FA Rule E3.1, a comment posted on the Manchester United FC player’s Instagram page was insulting and/or abusive and/or improper and/or brought the game into disrepute.”

“It is further alleged that the comment constitutes an ‘Aggravated Breach’, which is defined in FA Rule E3.2, as it included reference, whether express or implied, to color and/or race and/or ethnic origin.”

“The striker has until Monday 4 January 2021 to provide a response to the charge.”

In response, Manchester United also respected the decision of FA and stated, “Manchester United and all of our players are fully committed to the fight against racism and we will continue to work with the FA – along with other governing bodies and organizations, and through our own campaigns – in that regard.”

“We note the FA decision today to charge Edinson Cavani for his social media reply to a friend’s message of congratulations, following the Southampton game.”

“Edinson and the club were clear that there was absolutely no malicious intent behind the message, which he deleted and apologised for, as soon as he was informed that it could have been misconstrued.”

“The player and the club will now consider the charge and respond to the FA accordingly.”
