Gareth Bale was arguably the greatest ever player from Wales alongside Ryan Giggs to grace the football pitch. The 33-year-old has now announced his retirement from professional football, both at the club and international levels.

Bale is a Real Madrid legend having won the Champions League trophy for a record 5 times. He formed the famous BBC trio alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. However, his stay at Real Madrid was marred by injuries but he has gifted many beautiful football nights to the Los Blancos fan and will always remain a legend of the Spanish club.

He joined Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspurs and was currently playing for MLS club Los Angeles FC after leaving Real Madrid in the summer of 2022. Gareth Bale led Wales to their first World Cup in 64 years and played in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

After having a dream football career, Gareth Bale has now decided to call the curtains on his professional football career.

BREAKING: Real Madrid legend Gareth Bale retires from professional football

Gareth Bale wrote on Twitter: “After careful and thoughtful consideration, I announce my immediate retirement from club and international football.”

“I feel incredibly fortunate to have realised my dream of playing the sport I love. It has truly given me some of the best moments of my life. The highest of highs over 17 seasons, that will be impossible to replicate, no matter what the next chapter has in store for me.”

From my very first touch at Southampton to my last with LAFC and everything in between, shaped a club career that I have an immense pride and gratitude for. Playing for and captaining my country 111 times has truly been a dream come true.”

“To show my gratitude to all of those that have played their part along this journey, feels like an impossibility. I feel indebted to many people for helping to change my life and shape my career in a way I couldn’t have ever dreamed of when I first started out at 9 years old.”

“To my previous clubs, Southampton, Tottenham, Real Madrid and finally LAFC. All of my previous managers and coaches, back room staff, team mates, all the dedicated fans, my agents, my amazing friends and family, the impact you have had is immeasurable.”

“My parents and my sister, without your dedication in those early days, without such a strong foundation, I wouldn’t be writing this statement right now, so thank you for putting me on this path and for your unwavering support.”

My wife and my children, your love and support has carried me through. Right beside me for all the highs and lows, keeping me grounded along the way. You inspire me to be better, and to make you proud.”

“So, I move on with anticipation to the next stage of my life. A time of change and transition, an opportunity for a new adventure…”

Gareth Bale further tweeted for his Welsh family, which read: “To my Welsh family,
My decision to retire from International football has been, by far the hardest of my career.”

“How do I describe what being a part of this country and team means to me? How do I articulate the impact it has had on my life? How do I put in to words the way I felt, every single time I put on that Welsh shirt? My answer is that I couldn’t possibly do any of those things justice, simply with words. But I know that every person involved in Welsh football, feels the magic, and is impacted in such a powerful and unique way, so I know you feel what I feel, without using any words at all.”

“My journey on the international stage is one that has changed not only my life but who I am. The fortune of being Welsh and being selected to play for and captain Wales, has given me something incomparable to anything else I’ve experienced. I am honoured and humbled to have been able to play a part in the history of this incredible country, to have felt the support and passion of the red wall, and together have been to unexpected and amazing places.”

“I shared a dressing room with boys that became brothers, and back room staff that became family, I played for the most incredible managers, and felt the undying support and love from the most dedicated fans in the world. Thank you to every one of you for being on this journey with me.”

“So for now I am stepping back, but not away from the team that lives in me and runs through my veins. After all, the dragon on my shirt is all I need.
Together stronger
Diolch”

Zinedine Zidane – Noel le Graet controversy: Everything you need to know as FFF president apologises to Zidane

0

Zinedine Zidane has managed just one club in his coaching career and that is his former club Real Madrid. He already has phenomenal records as a manager including winning a hat trick of UCL trophies. The Frenchman is regarded as one of the elite managers currently. After his two stints with Real Madrid, he didn’t accept any offer and was reportedly waiting for the France men’s national team head coach’s job.

The current manager of the France national team, Didier Deschamps was expected to leave the job after the World Cup 2022 and Zidane was deemed to be the successor. However, Didier Deschamps has now renewed his contract with France for the next 4 years, ie, till World Cup 2026.

Noel le Graet’s comment on Zinedine Zidane

FFF president Noel le Graet said on whether Zidane called him about the France head coach’s job, via BBC: “I wouldn’t even have taken his call. To tell him what? ‘Hello sir. Don’t worry. Look for another club. I just agreed a contract with Didier.'”

“It’s up to him what he does. It’s not my business. I’ve never met him and we’ve never considered parting with Didier.”

“He can go where he wants, to a club. He would have as many as he wants in Europe, a big club. But a national side is hardly credible, to my mind.”

This comment by Noel le Graet on Zidane created a huge controversy as everybody came to the defence of the 1998 World Cup-winning Frenchman. France’s current superstar Kylian Mbappe also supported Zidane. He wrote on Twitter: “Zidane is France, we don’t disrespect the legend like that…”

Real Madrid’s statement on this matter

Zidane’s former club Real Madrid also came to his defence and demanded an apology from Noel le Graet. The Spanish club also highlighted his disrespect for their club captain Karim Benzema.

Real Madrid wrote in the official statement: “Real Madrid C. F. laments the unfortunate comments made by the president of the French Football Federation, Nöel Le Graët, regarding Zinedine Zidane, one of the world’s biggest sporting legends.”

“These remarks show a lack of respect for one of the most admired figures by football fans around the world and our club is awaiting an immediate correction. Zinedine Zidane, World and European champion representing his country, amongst many other honours, he embodies the values of the sport and has proven this throughout his professional career as a player and as a coach.”

“The statements by the president of the French Football Federation are inappropriate for someone holding such representation and are in themselves unsuitable, like those he also made about our captain Karim Benzema, current Ballon d’Or, Nations League champion with France in 2021 and winner of 5 Champions Leagues, amongst many other honours.”

Noel le Graet’s apology to Zinedine Zidane

Amelie Oudea-Castera, France’s Sports Minister, also demanded an apology from Le Graet for “a shameful lack of respect” towards one of France finest Zinedine Zidane

Noel le Graet has now issued an apology, which read, via BBC: “I would like to apologise for these remarks, which absolutely do not reflect my views nor my consideration for the player he was and the coach he has become.”

“I gave an interview to [French radio station] RMC that I should not have given because they were looking for controversy by opposing Didier and Zinedine Zidane, two greats of French football.”

“I admit that I made some clumsy remarks which created a misunderstanding.”

WIPL franchise owners are set to get an 80% revenue share in the first five years by BCCI

The WIPL franchise owners will get to keep 80% of the revenue in the first five years after the league starts. The BCCI recently floated a tender for the ownership of the five teams in the tournament. The first edition of WIPL will commence in March and the BCCI has invited parties for franchise ownership. January 21 is the deadline for the purchase of the tender and by 2025, all the teams will have an owner.

The ITT states that the formula of 60-40 will be implemented from 2028 for the next five years. From 20233, a 50-50 margin will be there between the teams and BCCI. For the first five years, the margin is 80-20 between the franchise and BCCI.

The IPL which has completed 15 years, has a 50-50 model. Their main revenue comes from sponsors and media rights. The WIPL media rights auction will be held on January 16 and the major parties are Star, Stony, and Zee.

With the growing popularity of women’s cricket in India, the potential for tournament success is very high. Besides the three contenders mentioned above, the other three competitors for the media rights will be Amazon Prime, FanCode, Times Internet, Google, and Discovery.

There’s also tough competition for franchise ownership. IPL franchises like CSK, PBKS, KKR, DC, and RR have already shown interest. Other private entities will be competing against them. However, the interested parties with a net worth of Rs.1000 crores will be eligible to be in the competition.

The ITT has given the interested parties the due date of January 13 to clarify all their clarifications. The tender will be available until January 21. For the verification process, January 23 is the deadline and the franchises will be allotted a closed bidding process on January 25. The highest bidder will be getting ownership of the team.

“We’ve applied to buy the bid document. Now we’ll have to find out about the economics of it. We are interested. If CSK doesn’t have a women’s team, it may not look good. We’d like to promote women’s cricket,” CSK CEO Kashi Viswanathan told TOI.

For WIPL, the players will be categorized into base prices ranging from 10 lakhs to Rs 50 lakhs. Smriti Madhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, and Deepti Sharma will be going under the hammer. Capped players will have a base price set from Rs.10 lakhs to Rs. 50 lakh and uncapped players to have a base price in the range of 10-20 lakhs. The last day doe registration closes on January 26 by 5 PM. The registry will be online. The BCCI will be dealing directly with the state associations and not the player agents for the auction.

– Aisle’s new venture is making ‘Seriously good dating’ a real thing for Gen Z’s

Aisle, India’s market leader in high-intent dating apps, unveiled Jalebi, the newest addition to their suite of dating apps, this week. Exclusively built for the single, progressive and predominantly Gen Z market, Jalebi makes way for a long overdue glow-up in the Indian dating scene. Jalebi is a loud, proud and authentic voice created to inspire and help members meet the right people in a safe environment.

Aisle’s new venture captures the attention of singles who are tired of frivolous, casual dating and are looking at dating with a little more depth. Aptly named to highlight its desi and out-of-the-box features, Jalebi caters to the urban Indian youth’s need for intelligent dating and meaningful companionship in a sea of dating apps that do the opposite.

Inspired by the neo-pop art movement, Jalebi introduces desi-modern and vibrant visuals into the app’s framework. Other than a safe and friendly community of singles, Jalebi’s features include selfie-verified profiles to create a more credible community, a mosaic profile design that makes more information about a member available at a glance, and audio prompt options that allow members to level up on their dating game to establish a higher level of trust.

Lamine Yamal considered the next gem to come out of the Barcelona academy

0

Barcelona’s La Masia academy is reputed for producing some of the greatest footballers the world has ever seen. And Lamine Yamal could be next on that list, with the youngster extremely highly rated by the higher ups at the club.

He is currently with their youth system, and is only 15 years old, meaning he hasn’t signed his first professional contract yet. His birthday is in July, which is when Barcelona are expected to hand him a long-term contract so that he can work his way to the top.

Lamine Yamal the next gem to come out of Barcelona?

As of right now, nothing has been finalised. And there are other clubs keeping an eye on his situation as well, which means a move away could also be on the cards. However, the two parties have opened talks regarding the situation.

Lamine Yamal has told the club that he intends to continue, and that there will be no surprise switch before their offer is heard. His agent, Ivan de la Pena, also represents Eric Garcia and Gavi from the first team.

So, there is a very good chance that we will see Yamal play for Barcelona’s first team soon. His salary, of course, will be negotiated based on figures that are suited for a player of his potential.

DoNotPay’s AI Bot to defend human!

The first time an AI bot will counsel the defendant during a court proceeding is rumoured to occur in February. According to a rumor, the first robot lawyer in the world will operate on the defendant’s smartphone using an app named “DoNotPay” and listen to courtroom proceedings in real-time while directing the defendant’s speech through an earpiece.

The robot lawyer’s creators are keeping the location of the court and the identity of the defendant a secret, but the hearing is scheduled to happen sometime next month.

The idea for a robot lawyer originated from the California-based startup DoNotPay, which Joshua Browder, a computer scientist at Stanford University, founded in 2015 to challenge parking tickets. In order to help people who are dealing with late fees, fines, and parking citations, Joshua Browder created the DoNotPay chatbot in 2015. However, in 2020, the company made the switch to artificial intelligence.

Since its release, the software has spread throughout the UK and the US, assisting users with a variety of letter-writing tasks, including those related to insurance claims, letters of complaint to local governments or businesses, applications for visas, and more. According to Joshua Browder, the epidemic caused a huge increase in DoNotPay usage. DoNotPay now states that it has about 150,000 paying subscribers.

DoNotPay: A path to justice?

Customers can join DoNotPay on a yearly membership for $36 if they want to appeal a ticket, obtain a refund, or battle spam calls. After registering, a user can use DoNotPay’s AI-powered chatbot to dispute their claim.

Here’s how to accomplish that:

  • Enter some basic data, such as the particular problem you want to raise.
  • DoNotPay turns such data into a legal document by processing it with artificial intelligence.
  • DoNotPay may present information as either an official notarized legal petition or a written email depending on the situation.
  • DoNotPay employs AI to respond to criticisms or arguments.

Sally Hobson, a barrister at a law business with offices in London, is one such attorney who recently used an AI in a difficult murder trial. A case analysis of over 10,000 documents was conducted. The task was completed four weeks quicker by the program than by humans, saving about £50,000. The software was developed by Eleanor Weaver, the CEO of Luminance. Since Luminance is provided in 80 different languages, it is used by over 300 law firms across 55 different nations.

AI robots raise ethical issues

The risk of an error or unexpected behavior in the near future remains, even though there are currently no reports of lawful AI bots acting in an unexpected way. Additionally, since AI bots cannot be sued, defining responsibility and payment will be more difficult.
