OnePlus is having a hectic weekend considering that OxygenOS 12 is officially out and not in the Beta version for four of the company’s devices. This news surfaced on the OnePlus community forum. The devices that will get the update are the OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, OnePlus 8T, and OnePlus 9R.
The package names are as follows OP8:IN2011_11.C.11 (IN), IN2015_11.C.11 (NA); OP8 Pro: IN2021_11.C.11 (IN), IN2025_11.C.11 (NA); OP8T: KB2001_11.C.11 (IN), KB2005_11.C.11 (NA) and OP9R:LE2101_11.C.14 (IN). All these devices are based on Android 12 OS and share the same changelog.
In terms of the system:
- You get optimized desktop icons with better textures via a design that is inspired by brand-new materials and uniting lights and layers.
- The issue of background applications abnormally closing in certain situations has been resolved.
- The issue with lens permissions while using third party camera applications has been fixed.
- The issue of screen not responding while recieving notifications has been solved.
Dark Mode:
The dark mode now comes with support for three adjustable levels, bringing a new personalized and comfortable user experience.
Shelf:
- There are new added style options for Cards making data contents more vidual and easier to read.
- Newly added Earphone Control Card with Bluetooth earphone one-click adjustment.
- Newly added access to OnePlus Scout in Shelf, which allows you to search multiple contents on your device, including apps, settings, media data, and so on.
- Newly added OnePlus Watch Card in Shelf, to easily glance at your health stats.
Work-Life Balance:
- Work Life Balance feature is available to all users, it lets users to effortlessly switch between Work and Life mode via quick settings.
- WLV 2.0 now supports automatic Work/Life mode switching that is based on specific locations, Wi-Fi network, and time, also integrating customized App notification profiles as per personalization preferences.
Gallery:
The gallery now lets you switch between different layouts with a two-finger pinch gesture, intelligently recognizing the best images, and cropping the thumbnail based on the content. It makes the gallery layout more pleasing.
Canvas AOD:
- Canvas AOD brings new diverse styles of lines and colors, for a more personalized lock screen experience with inspiring visuals.
- Multiple brushes and strokes are added with support for color adjustment.
- Optimized software algorithm and improved facial recognition to better identify the features and skin color of different figures.
Network:
The issue of not being able to connect to Wi-Fi has been resolved.
Bluetooth:
- The issue of wireless earphones not being able to play sound when connecting Bluetooth in specific scenarios has been resolved.

As for OxygenOS 12, you can check the latest updates here. OxygenOS 12 had been pulled back after a flood of bug reports and other issues had surfaced from its initial rollout on the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro. The update has now been fixed. OnePlus and Oppo decided to complicate their relationship by announcing that OxygenOS and ColorOS would merge into a unified OS.
The most recent development has overturned their unification plan with OnePlus and Oppo announcing that instead of merging their OS’ they will share a unified codebase and R&D but remain separate and will retain the particular approach to UX and UI to their respective users have expectations of.
