OPPO x Discovery’s Filmmaker Accelerator Program Is Giving Indian Creators ₹5 Lakh & a Shot at Global Recognition

If you’re a budding filmmaker with a smartphone in hand and a story to tell, OPPO India just opened the door wide open. In collaboration with Discovery, OPPO has launched the Filmmaker Accelerator Program — a bold new initiative under the OPPO LUMO Creator Program that blends mentorship, cash prizes, and a real shot at co-directing a film with one of India’s most iconic content brands.

What Is the OPPO LUMO Creator Program?

Launched alongside the Filmmaker Accelerator, the OPPO LUMO Creator Program is a creator-first platform designed to fuel mobile creativity — particularly among micro and nano creators for whom smartphones are their primary storytelling tool. OPPO India has positioned this as an ongoing initiative, with more opportunities for young creators expected down the line.

The Filmmaker Accelerator sits at the heart of this ecosystem. It offers end-to-end exclusive mentorship from industry professionals across storytelling, filming, and post-production, plus access to OPPO’s latest devices and grants. Winners also earn recognition across OPPO India’s social platforms and the OPPO x Discovery contest website, and get considered for long-term collaboration.

This is the third year of OPPO and Discovery’s ‘Culture in a Shot’ initiative, following previous themes Portraits of Legacy and Celebrate the Moment. In 2026, the focus shifts to culture as a living, evolving experience — not just preserved, but actively reshaped by a new generation of creators in real time.

A shortlist of Top 10 creators will first be selected, with the final winner chosen by Vikram Channa, VP and Editorial Chief at Warner Bros. Discovery. Entries are judged on cultural relevance, visual quality, originality, and emotional impact.

Beyond the Contest — More for Indian Creators

OPPO India also announced the return of the OPPO Photography Awards 2026, now open to Indian creators. This year introduces a Super Video category alongside the existing ones, with a total prize pool of US$76,500 across 38 awards. Entries can be submitted until December 31, 2026 via the official OPPO Photography Awards platform.

On the campaigns front, OPPO’s #SuperFestivalMoment initiative has already begun rolling — capturing India’s regional festivals from Holi to Bihu through locally rooted creators and AI-powered imaging.
