OnePlus has recently launched the OnePlus 8T and it is not even passed one month, the tech world has shifted its focus to the upcoming flagship segment of the OnePlus: The OnePlus 9 series. This series is expected to get launched around mid-March of 2021. Recently we’ve got some render images regarding the rear camera layout of the OnePlus 9 and guess what, it shows a big similarity to the latest iPhone 12 camera design. We can witness a rectangular triple rear camera setup (with rounded corners) on the rear panel of the OnePlus 9. There are three cut-outs in the module: two big ones and a smaller one (supported by an LEd flash in the side-middle of those two big cut-outs). If we compare the design with the latest iPhone 12, it shows similarities in most of the aspects. The only difference is the third sensor in OnePlus 9. Now, let’s take a closer look at the camera sensors and their specifications.

Regarding the camera sensors, it has a primary sensor of 48-megapixels. It is not confirmed whether the sensor is Sony IMX689. As per the focal length and pixels, the OnePlus 9 camera will offer a focal length of 6mm, and the output pixel will be of 12MP (4000×3000 pixels). This is probably due to the pixel binning. The second sensor is said to be an ultra-wide-angle sensor, accompanied by the 48MP primary sensor. But we have no confirmed information in terms of the third sensor (macro or monochrome).
