OnePlus has spent the last couple of years making 165Hz displays feel almost ordinary on its flagships. Now, a fresh leak suggests the company isn’t stopping there — and this time, even its budget-friendly Nord and “R” series phones could join the high-refresh-rate party.
What the Leak Says
Tipster Smart Pikachu claims OnePlus is preparing to make 185Hz displays a standard feature across its entire smartphone lineup — not just flagships, but mid-range devices too, through a new display strategy.
That’s a meaningful shift. Currently, the OnePlus 15, Ace 6, Ace 6T, Ace 6 Ultra, 15T, 15R, and Nord 6 all run 165Hz panels. The leak suggests every one of these models could get a 185Hz successor.
| Current Model | Refresh Rate | Expected Successor |
|---|---|---|
| OnePlus 15 | 165Hz | OnePlus 16 |
| OnePlus 15R | 165Hz | OnePlus 16R |
| OnePlus Nord 6 | 165Hz | OnePlus Nord 7 |
| Ace 6 / 6T / 6 Ultra | 165Hz | Ace 7 series |
| OnePlus 15T | 165Hz | (China-exclusive successor) |

Why the OnePlus 16 and Ace 7 Matter First
OnePlus is already reportedly working on the OnePlus 16 and Ace 7 flagships, expected to debut together around October this year, and both are tipped to carry 185Hz displays. If that holds true, the Nord 7 and 16R inheriting the same panel tech would simply be OnePlus extending its flagship display language down the lineup — something the brand has done before, as we saw when the OnePlus Nord 6 launched with a 120Hz AMOLED display at ₹38,999, borrowing performance DNA usually reserved for pricier models.
Don’t Expect These Anytime Soon
Both the Nord 7 and 16R are unlikely to arrive in the near term. Going by OnePlus’s release pattern — the 15R launched in December 2025 and the Nord 6 debuted in April 2026 — their successors are expected only in late 2026 and early 2027 respectively.
So while the OnePlus 16 could headline this 185Hz push later this year, Nord and R-series fans will likely need to wait a few more months before the high-refresh-rate trickles down to their price bracket.
A Familiar Pattern for OnePlus
This wouldn’t be the first time OnePlus has aggressively pushed refresh rates down its budget tiers. The brand has steadily climbed from 90Hz panels on early Nord phones to 120Hz becoming near-standard, as seen across devices like the OnePlus Nord 3 5G’s 120Hz AMOLED display, and more recently jumping to 165Hz on premium models like the OnePlus Turbo 6. A 185Hz mid-ranger would simply be the next logical step.
What This Means for Buyers
If this strategy plays out, 2026–27 could be the year ultra-high refresh rates stop being a flagship-only luxury in the OnePlus ecosystem — genuinely good news for gamers and scroll-heavy users shopping in the mid-range segment.
For official confirmation closer to launch, keep an eye on OnePlus’s official website. Until then, treat the 185Hz Nord 7 and 16R as promising — but unconfirmed — leaks.
