The man who made millions shout “We Are!” is finally setting foot in India — and May 9 in Mumbai is about to become a day anime fans won’t forget for years.

Crunchyroll just dropped the kind of news that gives anime fans genuine goosebumps. Hiroshi Kitadani, the legendary Japanese singer behind ONE PIECE’s iconic opening anthem “We Are!”, is coming to India for the very first time, performing live at Mumbai Comic Con on May 9, 2026.

ONE PIECE Details Overview

Who Is Hiroshi Kitadani?

If you’ve ever watched ONE PIECE, you’ve already heard Hiroshi Kitadani — you just may not have known his name. His electrifying voice on “We Are!” has opened every pirate’s adventure for over two decades, becoming arguably the most recognisable anime opening in history.

But Kitadani is far more than a one-song wonder. He is also a proud member of JAM Project — the anime music supergroup responsible for delivering high-octane theme songs across dozens of beloved anime series worldwide. His music doesn’t just accompany anime; it defines the emotional core of the stories fans love.

What Kitadani Said About His India Visit

The man himself is buzzing with excitement. In his own words: “I believe anime songs are the ultimate power that connects hearts all around the world! This will be my first time in India. I can’t wait to sing, laugh, and share an exciting time together with everyone in Mumbai Comic Con! Let’s make it an unforgettable and high-energy day!”

First time in India. Singing “We Are!” live. That alone should be enough to have Mumbai anime fans clearing their May 9 calendars immediately.

ONE PIECE in India Is Bigger Than Ever

The timing of Kitadani’s visit couldn’t be better. The ONE PIECE Elbaph Arc is currently streaming simulcast on Crunchyroll alongside Japan, with new episodes dropping every Saturday. Indian fans get to experience the story in real time — no more waiting for the rest of the world to catch up.

Even better, ONE PIECE’s Egghead Arc is now available in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on Crunchyroll — a massive step in making the globally iconic series accessible to a whole new generation of Indian fans across regional languages.

This visit is part of Crunchyroll’s growing commitment to deepening anime culture in India, bringing fans closer not just to shows, but to the artists who give those shows their soul. For more on the anime scene in India and Crunchyroll’s latest events, check out TechnoSports Entertainment.
