OFFICIAL: Sami Khedira announces his retirement after the end of the season

Sami Khedira announced his retirement from football at the end of the season after an illustrious 15-year career.

The 34 years old German midfielder currently playing for Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin. He joined the German side last January after 6 years at Juventus. Khedira made his debut in 2004 for VfB Stuttgart. In 2010 he moved to Spain and joined Real Madrid. He won a La Liga title with Real Madrid in the 2011-12 season. In the 2013-14 season, he won the UEFA Champions League as well with Real Madrid. Khedira has made 161 appearances for Real Madrid and scored 9 goals.

In 2015 he left the Spanish side and joined Juventus. The German midfielder has won 6 straight Serie A titles and 4 Copa Italia titles in his tenure in Italy. He has scored 21 goals in 144 games for the Italian giant.

Khedira has already issued a statement regarding his decision. The statement read, “Time to say goodbye. It’s never easy to make life-changing decisions. But sometimes you have to.”
