NVIDIA Pushes Gaming Limits: Lost Soul Aside, Stellar Blade & Tides of Annihilation Hit 500 FPS with DLSS 4

NVIDIA continues to redefine high-performance gaming, setting new standards with its latest advancements. During the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2025, NVIDIA showcased breathtaking gameplay footage of three highly anticipated action titles: Lost Soul Aside, Stellar Blade, and Tides of Annihilation. Each game leverages NVIDIA’s cutting-edge DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation technology, allowing them to achieve frame rates as high as 500 FPS—a milestone in gaming performance.

For serious gamers, high frame rates mean buttery-smooth visuals, ultra-responsive gameplay, and immersive experiences that go beyond what was previously possible. All three games in the showcase are developed by leading Asian studios, each bringing unique storytelling, stunning graphics, and adrenaline-pumping combat.

In this deep dive, we’ll explore each title’s gameplay, development history, and technical capabilities—and what it all means for the future of PC gaming.

Lost Soul Aside: The Indie Dream That Became a Blockbuster

The Journey from Solo Development to AAA Status

Lost Soul Aside has one of the most inspiring development stories in gaming. Originally a passion project by Yang Bing, this hack-and-slash action RPG gained widespread attention when its early footage showcased fluid combat, gorgeous visuals, and fast-paced action reminiscent of Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy XV. Sony saw its potential, backing the project under China Hero Project, and today, it’s a fully-fledged AAA title launching on May 30, 2025 for both PC and PlayStation 5.

Gameplay & Combat Mechanics

At its core, Lost Soul Aside delivers high-speed, stylish combat. The protagonist wields a versatile sword with combo-based attacks, quick dodges, and visually stunning special moves. The game also includes massive open environments, RPG elements, and a compelling narrative, ensuring it’s not just about hack-and-slash but also about exploration and storytelling.

Technical Performance: 500 FPS with DLSS 4

The game still runs on Unreal Engine 4, optimized for modern hardware. With NVIDIA DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, it achieves a staggering 500 FPS on high-end GPUs like the GeForce RTX 5090. Players can expect:
✔ Ray tracing support for enhanced reflections and lighting.
✔ 4K resolution at high refresh rates.
✔ Minimal input lag, critical for precise combat maneuvers.

This makes Lost Soul Aside not only a technical marvel but also a testament to how far indie-developed projects can go with the right support.

Stellar Blade: From PlayStation Exclusive to PC Powerhouse

A Game That Redefined Action Combat

Korean studio Shift Up made waves in 2024 when it launched Stellar Blade, a sci-fi action RPG that became an instant PlayStation 5 hit. Drawing comparisons to NieR: Automata with its fast-paced combat, stunning visuals, and captivating storyline, the game quickly garnered a dedicated fanbase.

Now, NVIDIA has confirmed that the PC version is set to release in June 2025, boasting enhanced performance thanks to DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation.

What Makes Stellar Blade Stand Out?

✔ Dynamic, fluid combat: A mix of swordplay, ranged attacks, and acrobatics.
✔ Deep sci-fi narrative: Featuring a post-apocalyptic world, mysterious entities, and emotional character arcs.
✔ Striking visual fidelity: Thanks to Unreal Engine 4, delivering high-resolution textures and real-time rendering.

Technical Upgrades & PC Performance

On PS5, Stellar Blade ran at 60 FPS with dynamic 4K, but the PC version pushes the envelope with up to 371 FPS on GeForce RTX 5090 with DLSS 4. NVIDIA’s AI-driven frame generation ensures smooth, lag-free gameplay while optimizing system resources.

Expected improvements:
✔ Higher frame rates for ultra-smooth action sequences.
✔ Better ray-traced lighting for immersive environments.
✔ Unlocked resolution settings for sharper visuals.

With the trademark lawsuit still ongoing, Stellar Blade’s PC launch faces some uncertainties, but for action RPG fans, this is an exciting release to watch out for.

Tides of Annihilation: A New Arthurian Adventure in Unreal Engine 5

A Mythological Take on Action RPGs

The newest game in NVIDIA’s showcase, Tides of Annihilation, is an action-adventure game inspired by Arthurian legends, developed by Eclipse Glow Games. With a tentative 2026 release date, the game aims to blend myth, magic, and modern RPG mechanics into a compelling new experience.

What sets Tides of Annihilation apart?
✔ Rich Arthurian lore, reimagined with dark fantasy elements.
✔ Intense action combat, combining melee, ranged, and magical abilities.
✔ Massive open-world exploration, promising deep quests and hidden secrets.

The Unreal Engine 5 Advantage

This title is built on Unreal Engine 5, making it one of the most visually ambitious of the three. NVIDIA’s showcase displayed it running at 359 FPS with DLSS 4, demonstrating how the latest gaming hardware can deliver next-level performance without sacrificing quality.

Technical highlights:
✔ Nanite technology for hyper-detailed environments.
✔ Lumen-powered global illumination for realistic lighting.
✔ Advanced AI enemy behaviors for a more engaging challenge.

Though still in early development, Tides of Annihilation has all the makings of a future hit.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090: The Powerhouse Behind These Games

All gameplay footage shown by NVIDIA was captured on the flagship GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, using Performance Mode at 4K resolution. While the impressive frame rates of 500 FPS, 371 FPS, and 359 FPS showcase the power of DLSS 4, real-world performance will depend on factors such as optimization, CPU bottlenecks, and game engine limitations.

DLSS 4: A Game-Changer in AI-Driven Performance

With DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation, NVIDIA takes frame interpolation and AI-driven upscaling to the next level. This technology allows:
✔ Higher frame rates without sacrificing image quality.
✔ Better performance on lower-end GPUs.
✔ Reduced latency for competitive gaming.

This innovation ensures that even demanding action games maintain ultra-high performance, making cinematic visuals and responsiveness more accessible than ever.

Final Thoughts: The Next Era of High-Frame-Rate Gaming

With Lost Soul Aside, Stellar Blade, and Tides of Annihilation, NVIDIA has set the stage for a future where 500 FPS gaming is not just possible but becoming the new standard. These games represent the best of action RPGs, blending stunning visuals, fast-paced combat, and immersive storytelling with cutting-edge performance.
