The Steam Hardware and Software survey results for January 2022 are finally here, after an unexplained delay of nearly a week. AMD, Microsoft Windows 11, and the Oculus Quest 2 were the top performers last month (Meta Quest). However, in the previous month, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Mobility GPUs, as well as AMD’s CPUs, saw a significant increase.

After seeing a drop in users last December, AMD has rebounded in the computer processor category, which is the first time the business has failed to steal market share from Intel since August. AMD CPUs were used by 0.25 per cent more survey participants last month, bringing the company’s overall share to 30.96 per cent.

The mobile RTX 3060 and 3080 were the second-and third-best performers in Ampere’s laptop series last month, with rises of 0.32 per cent and 0.16 per cent, respectively. NVIDIA’s GTX 1650, on the other hand, had the strongest month of the bunch, with a 0.39 per cent gain.

Users of the NVIDIA RTX 3070, 3060, and 3060 Ti graphics cards are decreasing. The RTX 3090 and 3070 Ti were untouched, while the RTX 3080 gained only 0.01 per cent and the RTX 3080 Ti gained only 0.04 per cent. The RTX 3050 Ti was somewhat more profitable, with a 0.06 per cent increase, while the basic RTX 3050 was the only desktop Ampere card to see significant gains, with a 0.14 per cent increase.

The top 10 graphics cards list remained the same, except the laptop RTX 3060 GPU moving up. The only RDNA 2 graphics card on the list is the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT.

When compared to its predecessor, Windows 10, Windows 11 has maintained its popularity, with 3.41 per cent more people choosing it last month, bringing the total to 13.56 per cent. In addition, more than a quarter of users now have access to 8GB of system RAM, compared to the previous month’s totals.

Finally, according to a Steam study from January, 2.14 per cent of all participants own a virtual reality (VR) headset, with Oculus Quest 2 (Meta Quest) owners accounting for nearly half of the users (46.02 per cent).
