The Nuvama Private T20 Mumbai League’s 2026 edition has achieved its highest-ever audience reach, recording over 3.8 billion minutes of watch time across television and digital platforms, according to an announcement by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). The domestic T20 competition, which featured prominent Indian cricketers, also introduced its inaugural women’s league.

The tournament, broadcast through a partnership with JioStar, reported substantial growth in key consumption metrics. This reflects an expanding footprint for the league, which showcased a range of talent including IPL players such as Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, Shardul Thakur, Sarfaraz Khan, and Tushar Deshpande.

Nuvama Private: Viewership Growth Across Platforms

For the men’s competition, television reach surpassed 65 million viewers, marking its highest to date. Television watch time increased by 61%, while digital views on JioHotstar saw a 66% rise compared to the previous edition, indicating growing viewership across platforms. These figures highlight a broader engagement with the league, aligning with trends in latest cricket developments (https://technosports.co.in/).

Inaugural Women’s League Launched

The 2026 season also marked a significant development with the introduction of the Nuvama Private T20 Mumbai Women’s League. This launch underscores the Mumbai Cricket Association’s (https://www.mumbaicricket.com/) strategy to develop women’s cricket by providing increased opportunities for emerging talent and establishing a clearer pathway for future cricketers.

Official Statements

Ajinkya Naik, President of the MCA, stated that the record viewership for the season indicates the league’s growing appeal and validates efforts to enhance competition quality. He also noted encouragement from the response to the inaugural women’s league, describing it as a step in promoting women’s cricket and creating opportunities.

Rajdip Gupta, Chairman of the T20 Mumbai League Governing Council, commented that the 2026 season, with its record viewership across television and digital, combined with the reception of the women’s league, demonstrates the tournament’s increasing strength as a domestic cricket property. Gupta attributed these numbers to the quality of cricket, broadcast efforts, and fan connection, adding that the commitment remains to build on this momentum.

Marketing and Future Outlook

The league’s season was supported by a marketing and social media campaign which generated over 158 million social media views. The Mumbai Cricket Association plans to continue developing the league, focusing on fan engagement and community ties to maintain its position among India’s domestic T20 tournaments.
