Carl Pei had more to say during the 2nd Android Show I/O Edition, and spoke about the manufacturer’s design-first approach and how the community leads development. He also confirmed that the Nothing Phone 3 seen in these images will go on sale in the summer. The new flagship is also rumored to come with premium materials, including a titanium body and upgraded glass covering the front and the back.

As far as performance is concerned, Pei has promised significant improvements, hinting at the inclusion of top-tier chipsets like the Snapdragon 8 series Elite version or MediaTek Dimensity 9400+. He also said that Essential is focusing a lot on the software experience, and that it may include a new UI, more tools in the Essential Space, enhanced AI features, and camera features. The other co-founder of Nothing, Akis Evengelidis, also spoke with 91mobiles and said that the Phone 3 will bring a game-changing experience.

Pei pointed out that Nothing is the first smartphone brand to gain real traction in over a decade. He underscored the company’s commitment to boundary-pushing design that incites emotion and creativity. Recognizing their community in the process, he mentioned that nearly 200,000 members help to define the product roadmap.

When it comes to software, Pei said that AI will be baked into the Nothing OS experience and treated as a fundamental feature, not something added on later. The vision is for AI to act as a collaborative partner, learning and evolving with the user.
