The internet clipped her words, cut the context, and ran with it. Now Nora is finally setting the record straight.

Nora Fatehi has built her entire career on her own terms — moving countries, breaking through without industry backing, and carving out a space for herself in Bollywood through sheer grit. So when a few seconds of a podcast went viral and painted her as “anti-feminist,” she had every reason to be frustrated. And in a new conversation with Lilly Singh, she finally addressed it head-on.

What Did Nora Fatehi Actually Say?

In an old interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, a portion of Nora’s statement — “This idea of I don’t need anybody. Feminism. I don’t believe in this. In fact, I think feminism f***ed up our society completely” — spread like wildfire, subjecting her to a lot of judgment and negativity.

In the podcast with Lilly Singh, Nora revealed that she comes from a single-parent home and misses having a nuclear family with two parents. She noted that people with platforms often advocate “You don’t need that. You can do everything by yourself. Yes, you can, but is it good for the child? I always look at the child version of me to have both parents.”

What Is Nora’s Actual Point?

What Was Clipped	What She Actually Meant
“Feminism f***ed up society”	She’s against extremism, not feminism itself
“I don’t need anybody”	She was critiquing radical independence rhetoric
Viral outrage online	Full podcast revealed a nuanced, personal perspective

Nora also mentioned that while a woman can be everything, it’s important to create an environment where men are accountable. “Why can’t we be independent, strong, and still need you (men)? Why can’t we share and create balance?” she questioned in the podcast.

This is a genuinely important conversation around feminism — one that deserves nuance, not a 15-second clip doing the rounds. Nora isn’t rejecting the movement; she’s questioning its more extreme interpretations while advocating for interdependence, accountability, and balance in relationships.

Why This Matters?

The problem isn’t just what Nora said — it’s how quickly the internet stripped the personal, emotional context from a woman sharing her lived experience. She spoke from the lens of a child who missed having two parents. She was advocating for male accountability, not female dependence. That’s a very different conversation from what went viral.
