No More Update Anxiety: boltt Promises 3 OS Upgrades and 4 Years of Security for Its New Phones

Buying a budget smartphone usually means bracing for the day updates quietly stop coming. boltt just flipped that script, promising years of software support on its newest devices before they’ve even hit shelves.

What the 3+4 Commitment Actually Means

boltt, the smartphone brand from the house of Fire-Boltt, has introduced its “3+4 Software Commitment” for two new devices: the Ace 5G and the Evo. Under this promise, both phones will receive three major Android OS upgrades and four years of security updates, with security patches arriving at least once every quarter. Critical vulnerabilities will also get addressed outside the regular update schedule whenever necessary, and the entire support timeline is counted transparently from each phone’s official launch date.

It’s a rare level of commitment for phones in this price bracket, where software support often trails far behind flagship devices.

Why This Matters for Buyers

Smartphone value used to be judged almost entirely by day-one specs. That’s shifting. Long-term security, consistent updates, and a device that still feels current two or three years later are increasingly part of how people judge whether a phone was worth buying. boltt’s founder and CEO, Arnav Kishore, framed the announcement around exactly this idea — that real value shouldn’t end the moment a customer completes their purchase, and that standing behind a product for years afterward is part of earning consumer trust.

Where These Phones Fit In

Both the Ace 5G and Evo will be sold exclusively through Flipkart starting September 1, with discounted Day 1 pricing shaving Rs. 1,000 off each device at launch. It’s worth noting that actual update rollout timelines can still shift depending on chipset support, Google certification requirements, and other technical dependencies, as boltt itself notes in its announcement. boltt’s software commitment centers on keeping devices current across newer versions of Android, the mobile operating system that powers the vast majority of smartphones worldwide.
