Two individuals onboard the Nio EV were killed in Shanghai during a test drive. Both the occupants who were sitting in the car could not survive the impact of the crash from the third floor of the company’s headquarters in Shanghai. The casualties have been identified as a staff member of the EV maker and a technician from a partner company.

The exact reason for the accident is hard to pinpoint at this time but the company has stated that the reason for this unexpected tragedy is that the driver of the Nio test vehicle lost control over the vehicle and ended up smashing through the glass windows before it hit the ground.
Apart from the two casualties onboard, there were no other deaths or injuries reported. Nio is a Chinese EV maker and this accident took place on the 22nd of June. The brand has confirmed that going by preliminary investigations, there were no visible flaws in the car that led to this.
However, there is a comprehensive and detailed investigation going on that will give the exact cause of the accident. The news was first broken by Shanghai Television.
