Nikon India brings their latest Z series mirrorless camera Nikon Z f

Nikon India Private Ltd. has launched the Z f, the newest addition to their mirrorless camera series, which provides exceptional performance. This camera comes with a full-frame sensor and utilizes the same EXPEED 7 image-processing engine found in Nikon’s flagship mirrorless cameras, the Z 9 and Z 8. These features enable advanced video shooting and still photography. Apart from its excellent usability, the Z f also incorporates cutting-edge technology, such as superior autofocus (AF) and vibration reduction (VR), catering to the specific needs of creative individuals who seek to express themselves in unique ways.

The newest addition to the full-frame Nikon Z family, the Nikon Z f, incorporates the advanced EXPEED 7 image processor. It offers a range of impressive features such as in-camera 10-bit N-log video, eliminating the need for an external recorder. The Nikon Z f enables creators to produce exceptionally high-quality videos with its impressive 4K resolution. A groundbreaking feature introduced for the first time in the world is the focus point VR, which reduces subject blur even when the subject is placed at the periphery of compositions.

Additionally, the Nikon Z f boasts a dedicated monochrome selector and a Vari-Angle monitor. Wedding photographers and cinematographers will appreciate the AI-driven features of the Z f, including Portrait Impression Balance and Skin Softening, which contribute to efficient project delivery with minimal post-production time. In summary, the Nikon Z f is poised to empower creators to elevate their skills to the next level. This statement was made by Sajjan Kumar, the Managing Director of Nikon India Pvt. Ltd.

The Nikon Z f features enhanced video performance allowing for more authentic production of videos and stills. With H.265 10-bit in-camera recording and N-Log/HLG recording support, subjects such as weddings, portraits and wildlife have delicate details beautifully and accurately depicted. Users can also shoot with minimum gear and without the need for an external recorder. With up to 125 minutes of 4K UHD/60p video recording, the Z f enables full-scale video recording with sufficient recording duration.

Furthermore, it provides support for capturing 4K UHD videos through 6K oversampling, facilitating the creation of high-resolution video content. Another notable feature is the Video S mode, which grants users the ability to regulate auto exposure while maintaining a fixed shutter speed. This function proves particularly beneficial in situations where lighting conditions constantly fluctuate, such as when shooting outdoors with cloud movements or transitioning between areas of varying brightness from intense sunlight to shaded areas.

With the introduction of a cutting-edge feature called “pixel-shift shooting,” users now have access to a new capability that enables the capture of high-definition images with exceptional detail. By utilizing in-camera VR and adjusting the position of the image sensor while the camera is mounted on a tripod or other equipment, it is now possible to take multiple NEF (RAW) files.

These files can then be combined using NX Studio to create composite images that boast enhanced resolution, improved color accuracy, and reduced issues such as moiré, false color, and noise. This feature is particularly beneficial for subjects that require meticulous attention to detail, such as bridal costumes, still life compositions, and images of insects.

Enhanced features, outstanding visual capabilities

The Nikon Z f offers excellent autofocus (AF) performance, catering to a wide range of shooting needs. In photo mode, it features 3D-tracking in the AF-area, while in video mode, it provides subject-tracking. Moreover, the AF system has been enhanced to better track moving subjects like wildlife and vehicles, thanks to the advanced EXPEED 7 image processor.

Users have the advantage of concentrating on composing their photographs while the AF identifies different subjects within the frame, without requiring any adjustments. The AF not only has the capacity to detect human faces that are as small as approximately 3% of the frame, which is the world’s smallest size, but it also facilitates easy focusing even in challenging low-light conditions, reaching as low as -10 EV. This includes nighttime scenes, landscapes illuminated by the moon, and indoor portraits.

With the Z f lens, users can effortlessly capture small and distant subjects with ease, even in wide coverage areas. The improved range coverage and increased number of focus points in auto-area AF enhance accuracy, allowing users to quickly capture their desired composition.

No matter the setting, whether it’s capturing wedding photos or wildlife shots, you can achieve the desired expression with ease and precision using the powerful autofocus capabilities and extensive support provided. With the advanced technology of EXPEED 7, even in low-light conditions, users can capture stunning images without the worry of noise interference when increasing ISO sensitivity. This widens the possibilities for capturing nighttime landscapes and indoor portraits with exceptional clarity and detail.

The Nikon Z f offers improved VR capabilities, allowing for handheld shooting in low-light indoor and long exposure situations. It introduces an in-camera Vibration Reduction system that provides an 8.0-stop advantage, expanding the possibilities for capturing sharp images without the use of a tripod. Additionally, it incorporates focus point VR, a groundbreaking feature that reduces blur near the focus point, even when the subject is positioned at the periphery of the composition. With these advancements, photographers can confidently achieve handheld shots in various lighting conditions and compositions, broadening their creative potential.

The Z f camera also includes several noteworthy features. It is equipped with the first-ever Vari-angle monitor in the Z series, specifically designed for the full-frame/FX-format. This monitor allows for greater flexibility when capturing still images or videos, as it enables photographers to easily compose shots from overhead, low angles, or even take selfies. Additionally, the Z f is the first camera in the Z series that offers touch-operation functionality. Users can conveniently adjust settings on the monitor through touch while keeping their focus on framing the composition through the viewfinder.

Embrace the challenge, showcase your unique identity.

The Z f now has a specialized monochrome selector that aims to inspire users to express their uniqueness. By incorporating new settings such as [Flat Monochrome] and [Deep Tone Monochrome], in addition to the traditional [Monochrome] option, you can effortlessly capture captivating monochromatic photos and videos. This feature allows you to immerse yourself in the world of black and white photography, paying close attention to the interplay of light and shadows. Whether you’re capturing breathtaking landscapes, striking portraits, or bustling street scenes, the monochrome selector offers a versatile range of options.

Take captivating photos and videos that reflect your imagination using the Picture Control and Creative Picture Control features. These functions can be applied to both photos and videos, allowing you to use color to convey the emotions, temperature, and atmosphere of your subject at the moment of capture. For photographers specializing in weddings and portraits who desire versatility in their shots, the newly introduced [Rich tone portrait] option provides the perfect balance of rich tones and detailed skin rendering. With a choice of 20 different Creative Picture Control options and 11 Picture Control variations, you can preview and confirm the desired effect in real-time through the camera lens.

Smart and elegant design, seamless functionality

The Z f showcases a sleek black exterior that exudes sophistication, paired with a magnesium construction and a grip that ensures a secure hold when used with FX lenses. This camera model effectively combines high-quality materials and a user-friendly design to deliver superior performance.

The product is scheduled to be released in mid-October 2023 at a price of INR 1,76,995/-.
