Netflix’s Steps Release Date, Cast & Everything You Need to Know About the Cinderella Spin-Off

Forget everything you think you know about Cinderella — Netflix is flipping the fairy tale on its head, and honestly, we’re here for it. Steps, the highly anticipated animated spin-off, finally has an official release date, and the details are nothing short of magical (with a punk-rock twist).

Release Date: November 20, 2026 — perfectly timed for the Thanksgiving holiday season, just like Netflix’s past animated hits Leo and The Sea Beast.

Steps Story That Breaks the Fairy Tale

Tired of living in Cinderella’s shadow, stepsister Lilith (voiced by Ali Wong) steals the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand and hijacks the Royal Ball — accidentally handing the kingdom over to the scheming Priscilla (Nikki Glaser). Now, Lilith must team up with Cinderella herself (Amanda Seyfried) to fight biker trolls, dodge henchmen, and save both the kingdom and their relationship.

It’s chaotic. It’s funny. It sounds absolutely brilliant.

Star-Studded Voice Cast

• Ali Wong as Lilith (the “evil” stepsister)
• Amanda Seyfried as Cinderella
• Stephanie Hsu as Margot
• Nikki Glaser as Priscilla (the real villain)
• Bette Midler as the Fairy Godmother

A Visual Feast

Unveiled at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival — the world’s most prestigious animation event — Steps blends 18th-century French Rococo art with a Y2K punk-rock edge. The first-look images are genuinely stunning.

Notably, Steps is the first film completed entirely end-to-end by Netflix Animation Studios, making it a landmark moment for the streaming giant’s animation arm.
