Love in the office just got complicated, and Netflix’s new office romance rom-com is about to prove that sometimes the best stories happen where you’re supposed to keep things professional. Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein are about to make workplace sparks fly, and honestly, we’re here for it.
Office Romance Plot That Has Everyone Talking
Picture this: Jackie (JLo), the no-nonsense President and CEO of Air Cruz, runs her business like a well-oiled machine—including a strict anti-fraternization policy. Then enters a charming new lawyer (Goldstein), and suddenly that rigid policy becomes very testable. The office romance theme explores the tension between professional boundaries and undeniable chemistry. It’s the classic workplace romance scenario, but with A-list star power behind it.
Meet the Creative Team Behind the Chaos
Director Ol Parker is bringing serious credentials to this rom-com. He’s the mastermind behind Ticket to Paradise and Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!—both proof that he knows how to blend humor with heart. The script comes from Ted Lasso creators Brett Goldstein and Joe Kelly, which means expect witty dialogue and genuine emotional depth. This isn’t just another rom-com; it’s crafted by storytellers who understand character development.
The All-Star Cast Bringing Office Chemistry to Life
| Character | Actor | Known For |
|---|---|---|
| Jackie (CEO) | Jennifer Lopez | The Mother, Atlas, Selena biopic |
| Sexy Lawyer | Brett Goldstein | Ted Lasso, creator & writer |
| Captain Jack Cruz | Edward James Olmos | Reuniting with JLo from Selena |
| Supporting Cast | Betty Gilpin, Tony Hale, Amy Sedaris, Rick Hoffman | Veep, Suits, Divorce, American Primeval |
Jennifer Lopez leads the charge in her third major Netflix film, following massive hits like The Mother and Atlas. Edward James Olmos adds gravitas as her father (they previously starred together in the 1997 Selena biopic). The supporting ensemble includes powerhouses like Betty Gilpin from American Primeval and Tony Hale from Veep.
Production Timeline & Expected Release
Filming wrapped in May 2025 after starting March 10 in New Jersey. Based on the production schedule, Netflix is eyeing a 2026 release date, though no official window has been announced yet. Given typical post-production timelines, expect this rom-com to arrive sometime mid-to-late 2026.
