Netflix This Week: Top New Titles, One Ice Age Takeover and a Mayor You Can’t Ignore

Saturday plans? Cancel them. Netflix US added 65 new titles this week (39 movies and 26 series), and the mix is wide: indie comedy, gritty crime drama, spooky-season horror and a prehistoric marathon that has taken over the charts. Based on What’s on Netflix’s weekly roundup, here’s a compact guide so you can spend less time scrolling and more time watching.

This Week’s Netflix Best Picks

The Weekend Starters

Save Yourselves! is the hidden gem of the week. Sunita Mani and John Reynolds play a Brooklyn couple who decide a week without their phones will fix their relationship. They pick the exact week aliens invade Earth, and they’re so disconnected that they barely notice. It’s short (about 1 hour 33 minutes), funny and a great low-pressure pick.

Mayor of Kingstown is the heavyweight. Thanks to a surprise licensing deal with Paramount+, Taylor Sheridan’s crime drama has landed on Netflix, with Seasons 1 to 4 ready to stream. Jeremy Renner plays Mike McLusky, a power broker caught between cops, criminals and politicians in a Michigan town where the prison is the main industry. With Season 5 on the horizon, now is a smart time to catch up. It’s already sitting at #7 on the series chart.

Halloween Highlights

October wouldn’t be complete without a scare. The Boogeyman follows two grieving sisters and their therapist father whose home becomes a target after a disturbed patient leaves something terrifying behind. It’s a tight, atmospheric watch that works best with the lights off.

If you prefer animated chills, Haunted Hotel Season 2 moves to a fresh cursed location with a new set of unlucky employees. For something lighter, Is It Cake? Halloween (Season 2) is also available.

The Ice Age Takeover

Here’s the funniest story of the week: all five Ice Age films arrived together, and the Top 10 chart noticed. The original film took #5, with Collision Course at #6, Dawn of the Dinosaurs at #8, The Meltdown at #12 and Continental Drift at #15. A new entry is expected in 2027, which makes this a well-timed nostalgia trip for families.

Netflix US Top 10 This Week

The crime and thriller genre is dominating the movie chart, while East of Eden, the John Steinbeck adaptation, is now the top series. That’s a good sign for prestige drama fans.

Don’t Miss These Indian and Regional Titles

Viewers in India will spot some familiar names in the new additions. Bollywood comedies Housefull, Housefull 3, Fukrey Returns and the Tanu Weds Manu films are now streaming, along with Reporting Live in Hindi. Regional picks include Epic (Telugu), Mandaadi (Tamil) and Pradhama Drishtiya Kuttakkar (Malayalam). For K-drama fans, there’s Doctor X: Mafia in White, 100 Days of Deception and Take Charge of My Heart.
