What the Teaser Shows

In the new teaser, Scooby-Doo: Origins’ titular pup — the franchise’s first-ever real-dog Scooby-Doo — sniffs around the woods until he spots Shaggy Rogers (Tanner Hagen) wandering nearby.

In the short 21-second clip, viewers get a look at Camp Ruby-Spears from Scooby-Doo’s perspective as he sniffs around plants and greenery before coming across a kid in jean shorts and a green shirt — revealed to be Shaggy, who picks Scooby up and gets a sweet face-licking as the iconic duo meets for the very first time. No dialogue. No mystery yet. Just pure, wholesome, tail-wagging magic — and somehow, it’s already one of the most talked-about teasers of the year.

The Full Cast of Mystery Inc.

Scooby-Doo: Origins stars Tanner Hagen (The Pitt) as Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson (Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret) as Velma Dinkley, Mckenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Afterlife) as Daphne Blake, and Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) as Fred Jones. What’s the Story?

During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder.

It’s an origin story — younger, fresher, and set at summer camp. Think Stranger Things energy meets the classic Scooby-Doo formula we all grew up loving.

The official logline describes the show as a modern reimagining of the iconic mystery-solving group of teens and their very special dog. Variety

Why This Is a Historic Moment?

Scooby-Doo: Origins marks the first time in the Scooby-Doo franchise that the titular character will appear as a real dog — not animated, not CGI-heavy, but an actual live Great Dane puppy in that iconic teal collar. While Scooby-Doo has been a pop-culture staple since the late 1960s, spanning countless animated iterations and the cult-classic live-action films of the early 2000s, this marks the first time the franchise will be adapted into a live-action television series.
