If you’ve already burned through Thrash and you’re still craving more fin-filled chaos, Netflix just heard you loud and clear. Riding the wave of its latest shark thriller’s massive success, the streamer has quietly added two more teeth-in-the-water titles to its library — and even launched a dedicated shark collection. Here’s everything you need to know.

Why Is Netflix Going All-In on Sharks Right Now?

It’s simple: the numbers don’t lie. Thrash — which follows stranded residents who must survive rapidly rising, shark-infested waters after a catastrophic hurricane — made the third-biggest opening weekend for Netflix in 2026, debuting with 54 million hours watched.

Reviews weren’t the kindest, but that goes with the territory for genre thrillers like this. Oscar contenders they are not. And yet, audiences showed up in droves. Sound familiar? It should — Under Paris did the exact same thing last year. People simply cannot get enough of shark disaster thrillers. whats-on-netflix

Sensing a very obvious opportunity, Netflix moved fast. For fans of the best thriller movies streaming right now, the timing couldn’t be better.

The Two New Shark Thrillers Now on Netflix

Title	Year	Stars	Rating	Added
The Requin	2022	Alicia Silverstone	—	April 17, 2026
Dark Tide	2012	Halle Berry, Olivier Martinez	PG-13	April 17, 2026

The Requin (2022)

Alicia Silverstone stars in this survival thriller where a couple’s tropical vacation turns into a frantic fight for survival when a massive storm destroys their overwater resort and strands them at sea, surrounded by circling great white sharks. If Thrash left your pulse racing, this one is the natural next watch.

Dark Tide (2012)

Oscar-winner Halle Berry leads this thriller that leans heavily into the psychology of swimming with apex predators. She plays a “shark whisperer” who lost her nerve after a fatal attack, but reluctantly agrees to lead a thrill-seeking millionaire on a highly risky shark dive through the treacherous waters of “Shark Alley.” Long-time Netflix subscribers might recognize this one — its last stint on the platform was back in 2017. whats-on-netflix

Netflix’s New “Shaaark!” Collection

In addition to the two new movie additions, Netflix has also launched a new dedicated shark collection featuring highlights including Under Paris, plus documentaries like Our Oceans and Shark Whisperer.

It’s a neat move by the platform — essentially building a mini survival thriller hub for genre fans who want to binge without hunting titles down one by one.

And if you want to go old-school: all three Jaws movies are currently on Netflix, but they’re all departing on May 1st whats-on-netflix — so you’ll want to catch those soon.
