Naagzilla Release Date Locked for Valentine’s Weekend 2027 with Kartik Aaryan

Bollywood is set for a wildly different Valentine’s Day treat in 2027. Naagzilla, starring Kartik Aaryan, has officially locked its theatrical release for February 12, 2027. The announcement has sent social media into a frenzy, blending excitement, curiosity, and plenty of snake-related humour. For fans of Kartik Aaryan and lovers of big-screen fantasy entertainment, the Naagzilla release date is now firmly circled on the calendar.

What Is Naagzilla About?

Naagzilla explores a fictional world inspired by Indian mythology and folklore surrounding shape-shifting serpents. According to early descriptions, the story revolves around mystical snakes that move between the human world and the mythical Naag Lok. Kartik Aaryan plays Preyamvadeshwar Pyare Chand, a shape-shifting serpent who finds himself in a series of chaotic, modern-day misadventures.

It is the first chapter in a high-concept creature comedy trilogy, where ancient serpentine legends intertwine with modern chaos, and a mystical being emerges from Naag Lok to confront an unprecedented threat, marking the beginning of an epic saga.

Why Was the Naagzilla Release Date Changed?

The much-anticipated fantasy comedy Naagzilla, backed by Dharma Productions and Mahaveer Jain Films, has officially been postponed from its earlier release date. Starring Kartik Aaryan in the lead, the film was initially slated to hit theatres on August 14, 2026, coinciding with the Independence Day weekend. However, the makers have now decided to push the film’s release, with the new target being the Valentine’s Day weekend on February 12, 2027.

Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, the film is a high-budget project requiring extensive post-production and visual effects. The move ensures the VFX team has ample time to perfect the “shape-shifting” sequences. The film’s postponement also means that it won’t be clashing with the Sunny Deol-starrer Lahore 1947, which is slated to release on August 13.

The Director and Cast

Naagzilla is directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, who is known for helming the three films in the successful Fukrey franchise. His expertise in comedy makes him a fitting choice to handle a film that blends humour with a larger-than-life premise. The director himself described the film’s tone as “Hera Pheri meets Fukrey in an icchadhaari world.”

The film stars Preity Mukhundhan opposite Kartik. Preity Mukhundhan is set to make her Bollywood debut with the film, while Ravi Kishan has also been associated with the project as the antagonist.

Production Powerhouse Behind Naagzilla

The film is produced by Karan Johar, Mahaveer Jain, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, and Neetu M Jain. The film is co-produced by Marijke deSouza and Divyansh Jain, with the script written by Gautam Mehra.

The Valentine’s Day Strategy

By moving to February 2027, Naagzilla secures a solo window during the romantic holiday season, which has historically worked well for Kartik Aaryan’s films. With its new release plan aligning with the Valentine’s Day weekend, Naagzilla is now expected to target a different audience segment, banking on its blend of fantasy, comedy, and romance to draw viewers to cinemas. Early reactions on social media are a mix of curiosity and humour. While some fans are already excited about the fresh “desi monster universe” concept, others are playfully reacting to the film’s title and Kartik’s recent film choices. Still, the buzz is undeniable, and the conversation has only helped keep Naagzilla trending.

Kartik Aaryan’s Upcoming Slate

Despite the delay of Naagzilla, Kartik Aaryan remains one of the busiest actors in Bollywood. He is currently working on several high-profile projects, including untitled musical drama directed by Anurag Basu.
