“My Bias, My Boss” Preview: Kim Hye Joon’s Fangirl Dream Turns Into an Accidental Office Romance

Fangirling for your idol at work sounds like a dream — until your heart starts betraying you for someone else entirely. That’s exactly the twist tvN’s upcoming rom-com “My Bias, My Boss” sets up in its brand-new preview.

What the Preview Reveals

Based on the webtoon of the same name, the drama follows Nam Da Reum (Kim Hye Joon), who takes a job at fashion startup Apello purely to get close to her longtime idol bias, Lee Chan (Cha Woo Min), who works there as a consultant. Instead, she ends up literally crashing into her new boss, CEO Kang Ha Gi (Kang Hoon), setting off an unplanned spark neither of them saw coming. While she gives a professional-sounding answer about “wanting to find what I truly love” when asked why she joined the company, her obvious crush on Lee Chan gets called out almost immediately.

The real hook, though, is the confusion that follows — Nam Da Reum can’t figure out why her heart races around her boss instead of her bias, while Kang Ha Gi wonders aloud whether his own racing heartbeat might just be an arrhythmia.

Why This Premise Works

The “idol-chasing employee falls for her boss instead” setup taps into a familiar K-drama comfort trope — workplace romance layered with idol-fan culture, a niche that’s become a genuine subgenre of its own in Korean entertainment. Webtoon-to-drama adaptations have had a particularly strong run recently, often carrying built-in fanbases into their live-action premieres; more on how this adaptation trend has evolved is available on Wikipedia’s Webtoon page.
