Mortal Shell 2 Revealed at Summer Game Fest 2025, Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2026

The first title is believed to be expanded upon in Mortal Shell 2, offering free-form, fast, and smooth combat, as well as a more complex weapon crafting system with better upgrade paths, as per the official details. The game will focus more on non-linear exploration, where players have to unlock secrets and challenges hidden behind corners in the world.

A core mechanic from the first Mortal Shell has also been cut from the sequel, which is the ability for your avatar to possess the “shell” of another, unlocking new fighting styles and abilities.

This core gameplay element sets Mortal Shell apart from other Soulslike games and continues to be a focal point of the new installment. Fans and newcomers alike will be interested to find out how Cold Symmetry will improve upon both the combat and storytelling from the first game. The first Mortal Shell was lauded for its satisfyingly lean combat, strong strategic traits, and a story that didn’t rely on unreasonable grinds or overlong padding.

A short length and simple game system, which gained it a spot in the world of hardcore RPG fans! Mortal Shell 2 will come to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC at some point in 2026, offering another exciting chapter in its addictive Soulslike journey. With its upgraded systems and polished mechanics, it will surely delight both returning fans of the series as well as those new to the adventure action RPG that defined a genre.
