Monster Hunter Rise Is Coming to Your Phone, and It’s Free With Netflix

Netflix just landed a very big catch. A new app store listing for Monster Hunter Rise NETFLIX has appeared, suggesting Capcom’s blockbuster action RPG is headed to iOS and Android as part of the Netflix Games catalog.

What We Know So Far?

Netflix hasn’t officially announced the game, and the listing has no release date. Reports suggest a soft launch is currently underway in the Philippines and Malaysia, which usually means a wider release isn’t far off. As with all Netflix games, it will be free with your subscription, with no ads or in-app purchases.

Monster Hunter Rise: Overview

What Is Monster Hunter Rise?

You hunt giant, ferocious beasts from your base in Kamura, a Japanese-inspired village. Then you use the materials they drop to craft stronger weapons, armour and items before taking on something even bigger. The signature feature is the Wirebugs, which let you zip around environments, scale cliffs and launch into the air mid-fight. Friendly Buddies fight alongside you, and you can hunt solo or team up with three other players.

What’s New on Mobile?

• Unlockable DLC quests: Challenge and Event Quests, once paid or time-limited, can now be unlocked through progress.
• Recovery Button: It automatically picks the best item based on your hunter’s health and status.
• Rebuilt touch controls: Every weapon’s controls are redesigned for phones and tablets across screen sizes.

One notable gap: the Sunbreak expansion isn’t mentioned in the listing, so it likely won’t be included at launch.

Why It Matters

Netflix’s mobile game releases have slowed sharply this year, with new additions mostly aimed at kids. Landing a premium title like this suggests the company is still chasing big names, much like its earlier deal bringing Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto games to subscribers.
