Illumination’s Minions & Monsters has wrapped its opening week in India, and the numbers point to a steady, if unspectacular, start for the yellow troublemakers’ latest big-screen outing.

Week One Numbers: A Weekend-Heavy Run

The animated comedy opened with Rs 1.80 crore, including Rs 55 lakh from previews, and closed its first weekend at a gross of Rs 7.05 crore. From Monday to Thursday, it added just Rs 2 crore more, bringing the film’s total first-week gross in India to Rs 9.05 crore. The pattern is clear: strong weekend turnout, but a noticeable dip on weekdays — a common trend for family-audience films that rely heavily on Saturday-Sunday footfalls.

Hollywood’s Strong Year in India Continues

Minions & Monsters joins a growing list of Hollywood films that have outperformed expectations in India this year, including Project Hail Mary, The Mummy, and Obsession. Not every release has kept the momentum going, though — recent titles like Toy Story 5 and Supergirl struggled to match similar success.

What’s Next for the Film?

The road ahead gets tougher, with Minions & Monsters now facing fresh competition from titles like Moana starting this week. A strong second-weekend spike, rather than a sharp decline, will be key to determining its overall theatrical run.
