Microsoft unveils the new Surface Duo – an exciting foldable device at $1,399

After a long wait, Microsoft has finally launched the Surface Duo – the folding phone that will go on sale from tomorrow, we got a new video advertisement from the company’s official Twitter account. The phone features a 360-degree hinge that offers all kinds of versatile setups.

According to the advertisement video, the phone has sleek hardware and fluidity with which the hinge can operate. Users can fold all the way back or stop at any angle that the user feels comfortable for the task at hand. There are a lot of specifications of this phone that has now been confirmed. Let’s check out what are those.

The Microsoft Surface Duo features an 8.1″ AMOLED folding display with (1800×2700) pixels of screen resolution for 401 PPI density. Both sides of the phone are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The folded position display features a 5.6″ AMOLED display with (1350×1800) pixels of screen resolution and a 4:3 screen ratio.

The phone is powered by Octa-Core Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 Chipset with Adreno 640 GPU. The phone runs on Android 10. This foldable device has two types of storage configurations – 128GB and 256GB, and both have the same RAM support of 6GB. The device houses a 3577mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with 18W of fast charging support.

Now enlighten to the camera of the device, the phone features 11MP single sensor with an f/2.0 lens. The device supports 4K video recording and the phone also has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The Microsoft Surface Duo has a single Nano-SIM slot and also supports eSIM functionality. The other connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/A-GPS, 3.5mm earphone jack, and a USB Type-C port for charging & data transfer. The onboard sensors of the phone include an accelerometer and proximity sensor.

The starting price of Microsoft Surface Duo is $1,399 (roughly about Rs. 1.27 Lakh) in the US, with white back color. In the US it will be offered unlocked at Verizon as well as Microsoft e-store while T-Mobile and AT&T will sell the device as well.
