There’s something deeply poetic about Michael Jackson’s life story still drawing crowds eight days after release. The Michael biopic, starring the late King of Pop’s real-life son Jaafar Jackson, is not just surviving its second week in Indian theatres — it’s actually picking up momentum. That’s a rare feat for any Hollywood film in India, and the numbers are making it impossible to ignore.

A 22% Second-Friday Spike — That’s How You Know a Film Has Legs
The musical drama added Rs. 4 crore to the tally on its Day 8 (2nd Friday), registering a 22 per cent spike from the previous day, with the dip from the previous Friday at only around 11 per cent — which is a solid hold. Mtv Splitsvilla X6
A spike on the second Friday is genuinely exciting. Most films bleed out after their first weekend — the fact that Michael gained footfall heading into its second weekend signals strong continued word-of-mouth and audience enthusiasm. An 11% week-on-week Friday drop is the kind of retention that studios dream about.
The movie is expected to see another spike on Saturday and Sunday, and is looking to add around Rs. 13 crore to Rs. 15 crore in its second weekend, which will take its running cume over the Rs. 45 crore mark.
On the Verge of a Historic Indian Milestone
The movie has already emerged as a successful venture at the box office and is on the verge of grabbing the Clean Hit verdict, which will make it the third Hollywood Hit of 2026 in India — after Project Hail Mary and Lee Cronin’s The Mummy.
Based on current trends, Michael is looking to wind up its entire India run around Rs. 60 crore plus, which will be a banger total for a musical biopic. Mtv Splitsvilla X6
