Meizu launches the Meizu 18X, Meizu 18S and Meizu 18S Pro in China

Chinese smartphone innovator Meizu held a launch event today wherein it unveiled 3 new devices, the Meizu 18X and the Meizu 18S Series that comprises the Meizu 18S and the Meizu 18S Pro.

While the 18S models are just upgraded versions of the Meizu 18 and 18 Pro that debuted earlier this year, the Meizu 18X is an entirely new device with pretty impressive specs, let us take a look at the specs of all the devices that were released today.

Meizu 18X

The Meizu 18X features a 6,67″ OLED panel with a centrally positioned punch-hole camera setup. It measures 165.1 x 76.35 x 7.99mm and weighs 189g. The display supports Full HD+ resolution, has a 20:9 aspect ratio, a 120Hz high refresh rate, a 360Hz touch sampling rate, 395ppi pixel density, 10-bit colors, 700 nits peak brightness, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

The Meizu 18X is the first device from the brand that is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC, it comes with 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 7GB of extendable Virtual RAM.

The device comes with up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage and runs on Flyme 9.2 UI based on Android 11 OS.

The rear camera of the Meizu 18X features a 64MP Samsung GW3 main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP depth lens. It has a 13MP front selfie shooter. The Meizu 18X has a 4,300mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging, it also offers other features such as dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, a USB Type-C port, and a 1217 super linear speaker.

Coming to the pricing of the 18X, it is as follows:

  • 8GB+128GB- Yuan 2,599($401 or 29,618 INR)
  • 8GB+256GB- Yuan 2,799($433 or 31,981 INR)
  • 12GB+256GB- Yuan 2,999($464 or 34,271 INR)

The first sale of the Meizu 18X will happen on the 26th of September, it will come in black, white, and gradient blue shades.

Meizu 18S

The Meizu 18S will feature a 6.2″ QHD+ AMOLED display with a high refresh rate of 120Hz, it offers a resolution of 3200x1440p. The device is powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ chipset.

Coming to the camera specs of the Meizu 18S, it has a triple camera setup on the rear, with a 64MP primary sensor, a 16MP secondary lens, and an 8MP sensor. It has a 20MP front camera integrated into the punch-hole setup.

The Meizu 18S has a 4,000mAh battery, you would have liked to see a bigger battery especially considering the price point but the good news is it comes with support for 36W fast charging.

The device runs on Flyme 9.2 UI based on Android 11 OS. It has an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, an 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, comes with support for NFC, supports WiFi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.2.

The device also has VC Liquid Cooling technology and dual-speakers. The Meizu 18S is 8.18mm thick and weighs 162g. Coming to the pricing, it is priced as follows:

  • 8GB RAM+256GB- Yuan 3,999($618 or 45,645 INR)
  • 12GB RAM+256GB- Yuan 4,299($665 or 49,117 INR)

The Meizu 18S comes in White, Light Blue, and two other color schemes that are named Unicorn EVO, they feature a gradient color scheme.

Meizu 18S Pro

The Meizu 18S Pro has a 6.7″ QHD+ AMOLED 2K+ display with a high refresh rate of 120Hz. The Meizu 18S Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ chipset.

The device has an amazing quad-camera setup with a 50MP primary sensor+32 MP secondary lens+8MP macro lens+3D Depth sensor. The device has a 44MP front camera! Definitely perfect to take some amazing selfies.

The Meizu 18S Pro has a better battery in comparison to the 18S, it has a 4,500mAh battery with support for 40W fast charging wired and 40W wireless charging.

The device runs on Flyme 9.2 UI based on Android 11 OS. The 18S Pro has an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, an LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, it comes with support for NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and has VC Cooling System integrated into it.

The Meizu 18S Pro has dual speakers and is dust and WaterProof although we are not sure with respect to its IPX rating. The device is 8.1mm thick and weighs 189g.

Coming to the pricing and storage information of the device, it is as follows:

  • 8GB RAM+128GB- Yuan 4,599($711 or 52,514 INR)
  • 8GB RAM+256GB- Yuan 4,999($773 or 57,094 INR)
  • 12GB RAM+256GB-Yuan 5,399($834 or 61,599 INR)

The device is available in white, gray, and navy metallic blue hues. The 18S Series sale date has not yet been specified.
