McLaren Racing won the Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship in 2024 and 2025 — and the Drivers’ Championship in 2025. Dell Technologies was there for all of it. The two companies have now formally extended their relationship, with Dell continuing as McLaren’s Official Innovation Partner into the 2026 season and beyond, using AI infrastructure, PowerEdge servers, and Dell PCs across every phase of McLaren’s operation from factory to racetrack.

McLaren × Dell Technologies: Partnership at a Glance
The partnership started in February 2018 — eight years before McLaren’s back-to-back title run. The infrastructure Dell supplies now processes race-weekend data at a scale most tech companies don’t reach in a month.

What Dell’s Infrastructure Actually Does on a Race Weekend
The 1.5 terabytes of data generated per race weekend isn’t a marketing number — it’s the combined output of hundreds of sensors on the car monitoring tyre temperatures, tyre wear, suspension loads, hydraulic pressures, fuel flow, aerodynamic balance, and driver biometrics, all streamed in real time to both the pit wall and Woking.
Dell PowerEdge servers process that data fast enough for the team’s strategists to run simulations mid-race — not at half-time, not after the race. If Lewis Hamilton’s tyre temperatures are trending toward a cliff three laps earlier than predicted, Dell’s infrastructure gives McLaren the compute to model what a pit stop now versus two laps later means for final race position, accounting for traffic, safety car probability, and rival strategies simultaneously.

The digital twins are the less-discussed part. McLaren builds virtual models of every car configuration and runs them through simulated race conditions before committing to physical changes. CFD workloads on Dell PowerScale storage let engineers test aerodynamic modifications computationally before touching the wind tunnel — compressing weeks of development into days.
For the Sim Racing Team, Alienware hardware closes the loop: simulation data from the real car feeds into the virtual environment where drivers train, and the skills and setup preferences developed in sim feed back into race-weekend strategy. It’s a genuine feedback loop, not just a gaming sponsorship.
The India announcement location is notable — Dell Technologies’ engineering and AI infrastructure teams have a significant Bangalore presence, and the partnership extension was formally announced there, signalling the India office’s role in the collaboration.
