Middle age has never looked this dangerous — or this fun. MBC’s upcoming action-comedy Fifties Professionals just dropped a teaser, and it’s already shaping up to be one of the most entertaining K-dramas of 2026.
What Is Fifties Professionals About?
Fifties Professionals is an action-comedy about three seemingly ordinary but secretly dangerous middle-aged men who are brought back into action by destiny. The three men, who once reigned at the top of their respective fields, find themselves exiled to the remote island of Yeongseon after a mysterious incident — and begin a bittersweet, comedic quest to uncover the truth about a fateful day 10 years ago that changed their lives forever.
It’s the rare K-drama that puts veterans center stage — not as mentors, but as full-on action heroes. Think The Expendables meets island life, with a healthy dose of Korean humor.
Fifties Professionals : Cast & Characters
| Actor | Character | Background |
|---|---|---|
| Shin Ha Kyun | Jung Ho Myung | Former NIS agent |
| Oh Jung Se | Bong Jae Soon | North Korean operative (amnesia) |
| Heo Sung Tae | Kang Beom Ryong | Gangster pursuing Jung Ho Myung |
| Kim Sang Kyung | Han Kyung Wook | Mysterious antagonist |
| Kwon Yul | Chairman Do | Han Kyung Wook’s sponsor |
| Hyun Bong Sik | Yoo In Gu | Signals the start of a new operation |
What the Teaser Reveals
The teaser opens with all three leads worn down — physically and emotionally — a decade after a failed operation landed them on Yeongseon Island. Meanwhile, the villains behind the original incident begin moving toward their own goals, with antagonist Han Kyung Wook setting an ominous tone. Jung Ho Myung’s fierce declaration — that this time, he won’t let them escape — drives the central conflict.
The action-comedy genre is perfect for this kind of story, blending high-stakes spy intrigue with the very human humor of three past-their-prime professionals getting one last shot at justice.
When and Where to Watch
Fifties Professionals is set to premiere on May 22 at 9:50 p.m. KST on MBC as a Friday-Saturday drama.
