Main Vaapas Aaunga Box Office: Sleeper Hit Crosses Rs. 56 Crore, Set to Clash with Dhamaal 4

Imtiaz Ali’s quiet Partition love story just keeps chugging along. Main Vaapas Aaunga collected Rs. 50 lakh on its fourth Thursday, closing out Week 4 at Rs. 7 crore nett — a steep 55% drop from Week 3, but still enough to push its total past the Rs. 56 crore mark in India.

A Slowdown Was Expected

The Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari starrer is now clearly on its last legs. With Dhamaal 4 opening this weekend, competition for screens is about to tighten further, which should accelerate the film’s decline in its final stretch.

Why This Still Counts as a Win

What makes this run notable is the trajectory: the film opened with just Rs. 1 crore on day one, a modest start for a project featuring this cast. Trade estimates now peg its total theatrical run at around Rs. 65 crore, which would count as a successful, word-of-mouth-driven finish for a film that started small.

The story itself has struck a chord — it centers on a grandson caring for his dying, dementia-stricken grandfather as the elderly man revisits memories of a tragic romance during the 1947 partition of India. That emotional core appears to have carried it through weeks of steady, if unspectacular, collections.
