Stitch is set for a major return to the Disney world, though this time, in live-action form. The mayhem caused by the rambunctious blue extraterrestrial is at the heart of a new teaser for the upcoming live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch. In the half-minute clip, we’re treated first to an idyllic sandcastle moment against a beautiful blue ocean, before Stitch comes barreling through and demolishes the castle.

The Cast of Lilo & Stitch
Newcomer Maia Kealoha stars as Lilo, the lonely Hawaiian girl who befriends Stitch, in this live-action iteration of the 2002 animated movie. Other cast members include Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Sydney Agudong, Kaipo Dudoit, Tia Carrere, Courtney B. Vance, Amy Hill, Jason Scott Lee, and Hannah Waddingham.
A New Take on an Old Classic
Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, Disney’s live-action reimagining of Lilo & Stitch recounts how Lilo, a young girl in Hawaii, forms a bond with Stitch, a genetically engineered alien created for destruction. Chris Kekaniokalani Bright wrote the script, based on an earlier draft by Mike Van Waes. Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich produce for Rideback, and Ryan Halprin serves as executive producer.
The Legacy of Lilo & Stitch
Inspired by the 2002 animated film Lilo & Stitch, by Chris Sanders and Dean DeBlois, the live-action version. After the success of the first movie, a sequel called Stitch! The Movie was released in 2003 and also served as a pilot for the TV show Lilo & Stitch: The Series. The franchise was extended with Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch (2005) and Leroy & Stitch (2006), which wrapped up the TV series.

As per what we know based on the release of Lilo & Stitch’s live-action adaptation, it’s set to hit the theaters on 23 May 2025, allowing fans to usher in the beloved characters and their riotous adventures to a new generation.
